Obama Dreams of a Peace Built on Freedom and Dignity

I just listened to President Obama’s acceptance speech and could feel the power of love and unity permeating his words. I recall some cynical media commentary saying ‘where is the hope?’ you only had to listen to his words to feel his optimism and calling as President. These are the times for real leaders to emerge as the path ahead will seem rocky and uncertain and people must hold onto the universal values which reflect true strength of spirit and freedom. Obama believes his words profoundly and he intimately understands the virtues that can bring a country together as originally envisaged by the founding fathers and philosophers of the past. I loved his point about citizenship, that it is not just about voting but becoming involved. He also mentioned the word love which I never hear men use or indeed leaders to demonstrate it as a core foundation, he also mentioned democracy, compassion, coooperation, tolerance, respect, dignity, hope, peace, strength and the most important, freedom. I loved his reference to inclusivity of latinos, black and white, gays, immigrants, women or whoever a person identifies as, he made it clear that tolerance is essential for freedom to flourish. I can feel the passion of Gandhi and the deepest desire for unity formulating the vision of a different America one that does not war monger for economic advantage, but one that resumes the position of a responsible world leader displaying integrity and earning respect around the World. I really loved that he included a tribute to Romney and the Republicans showing them they can unify to work together for a greater good or indeed god. This is essential for a world at peace that we learn how to face and overcome differences and work together for harmony and peace not as a mantra but a lived reality deeply embedded in every child’s education and every adults day to day life. Very inspiring and genuine.

I dream of peace built on freedom and dignity of all people across this planet not as an ideal but the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me god/universal intelligence/love. I feel this dream will come true.

So I will post a poem here in dedication to Barrack Obama who I would see as one of the greatest leaders our planet has seen. Why do I say that – because he knows who he is and he serves the people. That is why he handed the victory to those around him, he saw the truth. As Patch Adams said ‘every one is great, they just give up on it by 40.’

Don’t give up find your greatness and live what is true. Perhaps one day you are on top on the world smiling. (I speak to both women and men here).

FREEDOM

I am free to breathe in life,
I am free to see my fingers and my toes,
I am free to hear noises,
My own cry,
To see movement,
Eventually colours,
Objects,
Sensations,
Hot and cold,
Wet and dry,
Hungry and full,
Comforted or alone,
I am born free,
From where few know.

Free dominion,
Is sovereignty,
Unique as a snowflake,
We are free to choose,
In a jail,
In a job,
In a family,
Walking alone,
Our freedom chooses what we see,
What we believe,
What we need,
Or desire,
Our fire,
Our isolation,
Our desperation,
Our despair,
Our grief,
For freedom is always calling.

Beliefs are the harness or the halo,
For we are taught what to do,
What to expect,
Right from wrong,
How to dress,
Who to impress,
How to behave,
How much to save,
To conform to what is right,
When to make peace and when to fight,
What is appropriate,
To find the right opiate,
As we are taught from birth,
Without question,
And this becomes the colour of our world.

One day the feeling of freedom,
Asks why?
I want to follow my freedom echoes from the chamber of your heart,
To taste life in all its flavours, colours, contrasts,
To travel the world of ideas, thought forms, exploring my mind,
From the ridiculous to the sublime,
To travel the world of mountains, wild rivers to the sea
curious of what I’ll find.

Beliefs say it is not safe,
Freedom says all life is good,
Beliefs argue you will be hurt,
Freedom says life is kind,
Beliefs say hold down a job,
Freedom lives life as the real job,
With no description,
With no road map,
With no direction,
For freedom lives in the moment,
A spontaneous thought,
That says why not?

For I am feeling my freedom,
As it carries me to new highs,
As life supports my dreams,
On thermals warm and free flowing,
In words without pretence,
Yet holding intent,
To be free to share,
To be free to live without fear,
Love without condition,
The freedom of happiness,
For that does not depend on any viewpoint,
It is a birth right,
It is the light in my sunshine,
Flowing as the wind on my smiling face,
For this is the grace that found me,
As infinite possibilities arise in this new dawn,
For greatness is to be my true self,
To know my self and be true,
And even if some try to take my freedom,
That would be impossible,
For I choose my thoughts,
They can’t be bought or sold,
For my heart sets my future direction,
To love all life without limitation,
To teach what I have learned,
And this is the truth that sets me free,
In a renewable morning of my re-birth
Onto a new earth,
As freedom is our true nature,
That sees what is always true.
