My Message Is Your Life

I see myself in you.

Kahil Gibran:  Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears. And how else can it be?

THE MESSAGE IS YOUR LIFE

In the sadness of my turmoil,

I coil to reduce my presence,

For today I must give presents,

But I have chosen to keep mine wrapped.

For I cannot see the meaning,

I am not a servant to obligation,

I am not coming to the house,

That is not my home.

They care but they do not love me,

They share but it is a routine,

Unquestioned,

For I am no longer sleep walking,

I am out of bed,

I am awake,

But I cannot move,

For I do not wish to play a role,

In this play.

I see through the window,

For me it is clear,

As the tears roll down my cheeks,

For it is not nature to retract,

For only narrow tracts of land are arable,

Creeks where wild rivers used to flow,

As some tout they are economical,

And nourishment is waxed lyrical,

For the economic monster,

Has slipped the lead,

No-one is leading,

But running for the object of desire,

For its eyes are fixed,

Its greed is the engine,

That attacks innocence.

A birds eye view,

I look down,

I can see the sculptures of humankind,

I see the carvings,

The etchings,

The manicure,

The lines,

That draw boundaries,

For you cannot step over the line of control,

Which controls every moment in our lives.

I am told if I want to expand peace,

I must make it economical,

I know economics,

It is not economical,

It is infinite yet unrealistic,

It is manufacturing demand and supply,

It is pining for economic growth,

But in truth it is environmental decline,

that is yielding sour wine,

That will never mature when it ages.

I have stated that I have ethics,

I do not go cap in hand to the thief,

I seek out those with melting desire,

For the illusion of artifacts is cast aside

for the depth of truth,

They are the ones I seek,

They are the meek,

That will inherit the earth.

I am viewed as a failure,

But many have failed to see,

The truth in me,

Instead they measure me by outcomes,

I am measured by conformity to norms,

But my life is not normal,

For I have chosen to allow the natural flow

to grow

into life.

For it is natural to give,

It is natural to see the world as my family,

It is natural to live in love,

To play with joy,

To enjoy each moment,

As the true gift,

The true present,

That is bestowed by a living presence,

That many have forgotten.

For me it does not rest in the dictum of religion,

For religion seeks to apply labels to the formless,

To issue instructions on how to seek,

For me it is in the heartbeat of a child,

In the innocence shining through eyes,

It is in the moment where you forget who you are,

For you feel nothing,

For a moment you lose yourself,

Yet in truth you are found,

For the shackles of self image,

Melt into shadows,

Which crawl the walls,

As the sunlight makes visible,

That there is nothing to fear,

But fear itself.

For if I cannot be loved for who I am,

Then I prefer to not be loved,

I will not create a charade of success,

When I know I am already successful,

For the way of the heart,

Beats the path back to realization,

That all is transient,

All is changing,

All is dying,

Many are crying,

For they are keeping up appearances,

They are tired of routine,

They are living others dreams,

They have lost faith,

In who they are.

So why did I choose this path?

I saw the emptiness in the game,

Money is not love,

Although many love money,

Why exchange energy for meaninglessness?

Why sell my thoughts to the highest bidder?

When I can think my own thoughts for free,

Which naturally flow into the river of timelessness,

My thoughts naturally look to the state of nature,

And the nature of the state,

My thoughts naturally flow into what is real meaning?

What is value?

Who am I?

For if I sold myself short,

I would remain in the matrix,

Dancing to another’s tune,

Never entertaining such notions,

For I would not be free to flow,

To follow my heart,

Which is the real fountain source

of life.

So what have I found?

A world that seems unreal,

Because it is,

I have lifted the veil,

The breeze is in my sails,

And it sends me in the opposite direction,

I am to trust each moment,

For I will know who I be,

When I see you in me,

When my interest is yours,

When selflessness flows to all shores,

For it is to be sure that the world is one,

That we are here to have fun,

To remember that there is enough when we share,

To feel we belong when we truly care,

To extend love in each moment,

For many are in pain,

For childhood memories are the rain,

That pollute the estuaries of the heart,

It is the cart that we pull in all directions,

It is a heavy burden that sings silently,

That you are not good enough,

That you have more to prove,

But in truth we get caught in the groove,

And wake up alone.

For we didn’t use the phone to say hello,

For if it was a business expense,

It would be tax deductible,

And of value,

But in truth the real value sparkles in the dial tone,

That sends the real message of who we are.

Know that you are always in my heart,

That my deepest wish is to see you smile,

The real asset is in you,

For I feel your courage,

I watch your perseverance,

It is the fairness in your apology,

It is in the love of your family,

It is in being silly,

Playing with your kids,

That your true wealth is visible,

For the richness is invisible,

That is why I appear poor,

But be sure,

That I am happy.
