REAL HOPES for Planet Earth

I watched the excellent BBC series called Planet Earth which inspired this poem written for you below.  Here is a brief overview of this magnificent series.

Planet Earth is a 2006 television series produced by the BBC Natural History Unit. Five years in the making, it was the most expensive nature documentary series ever commissioned by the BBC and also the first to be filmed in high definition.[1] The series was co-produced by the Discovery Channel and NHK in association with the CBC and was described by its makers as “the definitive look at the diversity of our planet”.

Planet Earth was first broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC One in March 2006 and premiered one year later in the United States on the Discovery Channel. By June 2007, it had been shown in 130 countries worldwide.[2] The original BBC version was narrated by David Attenborough and produced by Alastair Fothergill. For Discovery, the executive producer was Maureen Lemire, with Sigourney Weaver‘s voiceover replacing Attenborough’s.

The series comprises eleven episodes, each of which features a global overview of a different biome or habitat on Earth. At the end of each fifty-minute episode, a ten-minute featurette takes a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges of filming the series.

TV firsts[edit]

One of the producers’ aims was to build as much unique footage into Planet Earth as possible, and the crews succeeded in filming a number of species, locations and events from the natural world which had never before been shown on television,[15][16] including:

I travelled the World to gain a deeper appreciation for globalisation, sustainability and world peace.  There is nothing like seeing this incredible planet for yourself.   I have real hope for you to be the change you wish to see in your world.  Creativity will take us to where we want to be.  Enjoy.   Sent with love.

REAL HOPES for Planet Earth

Planet earth is dying,

Her waters are polluted by unnatural chemical compounds,

Her air is intoxicated with fumes, plumes and chem trails,

Her soils are exhausted, extracted, exploited and blowing in the wind,

Her oceans are diluted dumps of debris, oil sumps and shipping graveyards,

For  global pump priming is slowing as it runs out of credit,

The silent spring of glacial ice melts into tipping points on the compass,

Electromagnetic fields weaken as sun flowers flare,

For who cares if humanity is sweltering in a climate of real change?

Travelling the world I saw her aging face from the sky of my dreams,

I decided to get a personal picture,

Of her curvature,

The veins of rivers criss-crossing islands of continental drift,

Naked tundras icy carvings etching records of earth changes,

Desert storms sand sculpting faces from previous races,

Moon scapes of ancient civilisations sending silent encryptions,

Magnificient mountain peaks piercing through cloud formations,

Storm clouds of cumulus pillows darkened by electric shadows,

Rains storming soup pools in cloud forests of rising damp,

I witnessed her bright blue lakes calmed by mountain shadows,

Tropical fire flies flashing electronic signatures like morse code,

Outback flash fires sizzling a scorched earth recovery,

As snow clad pine trees highlighted the icing on the cake,

For she has so many expressions,

She made so many impressions,

Trillions of footsteps no historian can measure or scientist can count,

For in the landscape of my mind she cannot be captured, contained or bound by borders,

As I rose to higher altitudes on the thermals of global warming,

I issued my own warming as a new realisation dawning,

That world peace is the turnkey that strengthens the ICE,

To Inspire, Challenge and Empower,

Opening a hundred thousand doors,

As the petals of a new awareness,

Dawning a new age of freedom,

Transcending reason to define a re-new-able meaning

Of life on earth.

Did you know…

Half the worlds rainforests remain,

Half the worlds wetlands are drained,

Only one third of amphibious frogs sustained,

For they are natures early warning keystone species,

For when they croak,

The environmental cloak,

Reveals what is not healed,

In human nature.

For we are the change we wish to see,

We are the only ones that set all species free,

To lead with empathy (selfless),

To govern with compassion (heart centred),

To sustain with balance (need=want),

For human nature must be sustainable, functional and adaptable,

For these are the keystones to our species,

That puts the cap on trade,

For when the balls are rolling down tin can alley,

The wise wonder – will all the kingpins be struck down as game over?

Or will children learn to shoot themselves in the foot?

Failing to understand that the Emperors and the Kings have no clothes in truth?

For power within is the new self mastery that changes the world as you see it.

REAL HOPES is the acronym for:

Responsibility – the ability to respond to the challenges that beacon us,

Empathy – to imagine life on earth as an eagle, an amoeba, an ibis or a whale,

Awareness – awakens our sacred stewardship of ‘as above so below’,

Love is to see ourselves in the innocent guise of this wild life that gives unconditionally,

Honesty is to face ‘what is’ with courage and act from first principles,

Oneness is to know that what you do to nature returns immediately to self in intricate feedback loops of natural selection,

Peace is the yin/yang of harmonious balance where equilibrium returns CO2 to 260 parts per million as nature embedded,

Enjoyment is to return to our true nature enjoying nature’s value-able gifts beyond imbalanced cost accounting,

Service is to pre-serve our nature in every thought, word and deed for this is the true ownership that knows no national boundaries.  The earth teaches we are One.

Did you know …

Our planet is dying to live,

And we are living to die,

For when we die to Self,

The lies, self-deception, negativity, limitation and separation

evaporate the thinnest veil over our eyes to reveal

infinite abundance in the multi-verses of the one song.

Becomes the vision of a future that more than survives,

For we are here to thrive,

We are the creators of all we see,

And there are infinite possibilities that cannot be seen,

Until we open the heart centre and envisage how it will be,

Then you will know the truth sets you free,

To remember the top of the mountain,

A peak experience of expanded consciousness,

For happiness and bliss was always the true bounty

of living life

Mohandas Gandhi

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
