World Peace: You Are The Voice

The World is a reflection of the collective choices of all people.  Collectively we create the life and times we are moving through.  Some people will say they are powerless, some will say they have to work, others will say there is no time.  How much time does it take to write to a politician, to have a conversation at home, to write to Letters to the Editor or to join an internet forum.  Think of all the time we spend watching t.v., all the time watching movies, playing games or going out to enjoy ourselves.  Just imagine if every person decided to spend even 1% of their time thinking about peace in the World.  Even if peace was to simply focus on your family and learn more about better Parenting.  Think about how you impact children when you punish them with fear, when you are controlling and when you suppress their natural creativity.  Peace Education instructs people to become aware of cooperation, empathy,  clear communication, I Statements, listening and taking back power rather than projecting unowned parts of ourselves and calling it ‘blame’.   In how many marriages has their been a silence where couples don’t sit down and really work together to know each other and respect each others right to be who they are without force.  Finding your voice is not yelling nor is it about force, it is about self expression and truthfulness in a space of mutual respect, that indeed is democracy or harmony.  In a World that sends out many signals to be silent, to sit down, that doesn’t reveal truth readily, each person can be an example of change by walking the talk or as Gandhi stated ‘to be the change they want to see in the world’.  That is how change occurs, it starts with every person.   Imagine if effort was put into solving problems rather than pretending we are victims.   Imagine if we actually generated solutions together and found ways to live together so that all can reach their full potential.  That is how important speaking up is.  I can assure you you won’t recognise the World and you will see actually do have power.

To those who wish to suppress others from the micro to macro I would ask them to reflect on a universal truth ‘what you resist persists and what you look at disappears’. Hence, suppression simply grows resistance, opposites create as we live in a world of duality.  It is natural for people to resist when they feel their choices are taken away. No person can control another without their permission.  Fear is used to control as the one controlling is in fear and is afraid of losing power.  So fear begets fear and the ripple effect goes on.  Speaking up in a peaceful way begets understanding, begets negotiation, the sharing of power as in truth we are here to share our World.   When others ignore, refuse to answer they simply make the place a little sadder. Conflict Resolution if practiced would mean that we discuss how we impact on each other and work out strategies that respect others needs and concerns and options arise. In truth you are only a victim when you think there are no options, there are always options.     Have faith that life is out to support you rather than get you.  That has been my experience.

This video is a by John Farnham a famous Australian singer.  He was known universally as a really lovely guy and good bloke.  He headed up the Little River Band after Glen Shorrock left.  He is an amazing singer, one of Australia’s best.  The words are a clear call to action to take responsibility for your behaviour and your World.   For you are indeed the World.
