Friendship Links Hands Around the World

Reflect on your friendships, are they genuine or are you just using friends to fill the gap within? When they become your family, you will not drop them when they disagree, you will ask them to tell you more. One of my friends had an outburst and criticised me. I stood there and reflected. I asked her to help me see her view, if it is true I will acknowledge it and grow or if it is not, I may see it as her projection. True friendship does not break over a few words. Sometimes people get hurt and they hold those hurts for years, it is so important to resist the desire to cut off another. However, if they choose not to resolve the conflict then you may have to let them live out their process. In truth it is never personal, it is always an opportunity for growth.

How many friends are fair weather?
When all goes well they come along,
When something better arises,
They sing another song,
For it is about maximising their joy,
Not being together,
As a shared space.

You have cross words,
As differences arise,
How many leave the house and never return?
How many sit down and work out what went wrong?
For the relationship to become strong,
Conflict becomes the tool,
Chiselling the shape and form,
Finding the edges to in-form,
The real shape of friendship.

Have you considered walking the talk?
For true friends are eternal,
They are the ones that check on you periodically,
Checking that all goes well,
To let you know you are not alone,
But part of their community,
A circle of shared concern,
For when the chips are down,
They cheer you up,
Uplifting you on thermals of laughs,
Reminding you of why you are loved,
They stand with you in intrepid weather,
For they weather the storm,
They will stand at the front,
They will support you at the back,
They will walk alongside,
They will lead you home,
To the truth,
Of human kind.

For a true friend is the kind human,
It is unshakable,
Even when they shake,
They will work the problem out,
Iron out disagreements,
Allow you to be free,
For freedom of speech is democracy,
As expectations are the chains that bind,
Love is the blindness that is kind,
That enables you to live an unlimited life,
For friendship is the wind not the kite,
That enables you to fly again,
So others can look up and see the potential in being free,
And this becomes the world community,
That links hands around the world,
For we are indeed each others keepers,
As truth seekers always question rather than conclude,
To know the true sets you free,
To live eternally.
