Speak Your Truth You Matter
SPEAKING TO YOURSELF
Are you speaking to yourself,
I hope you are,
For when you start this conversation,
You make it audible,
You make yourself visible,
To yourself.
We all recoil in fear,
We may be heard,
But are you listening to the voice,
We are speaking,
Out loud,
We are thinking,
With sound,
This clarifies,
This congeals,
This reveals,
What is hidden,
And liberation is always in-forming freedom.
For many are no longer talking,
They are thinking in silence,
They are wondering,
They are challenging,
They are fighting,
But it is within,
For society won’t let them come out,
It is not safe to speak your truth,
To speak to yourself,
Means you must be crazy,
Yet this is the path to sanity,
For many don’t know themselves,
At all.
Sometimes I laugh at this,
For when we are in conversation,
We are not in debate,
For we are spending time,
Reflecting,
Thinking,
Sinking into memories,
But we are not having an argument,
We are justifying our positions,
For we are in judgement of the others plight,
For we are right,
The other must be wrong,
For if one chooses not to change,
The other is to blame,
And this I find interesting.
So if you get caught muttering,
And start stuttering,
Don’t worry be happy,
It doesn’t matter what others think,
You speak your truth,
In your own way,
Play with you peculiarities,
Play with idiosyncrasies,
For these are simply departures from the norm,
But is it normal to conform?
Or is it cowardice and patterns?
For one is afraid to step outside of the box,
For one wants to belong to the group,
And the individual life can be lonely,
But let me tell you it is the greatest freedom,
It is the greatest fun,
To be different,
And play in the sun,
For life is over before you know it,
Don’t wait until the last to reflect,
For when we neglect our truth,
It becomes a half life,
Indeed a half lie,
And life was never meant to be lived,
By halves.
