We Are All On The Same Team

This was inspired by a person who didn’t meet eye to eye with me, but in the end I still feel deep respect. I didn’t get what I asked for but I retained my truth. That for me is more important than winning the argument. For I see we are on the same team.

So I say to those reading this, make peace with those who you feel have hurt you, find that place of harmony. I am certainly working on it. Although I do have my moments, I never give up on peace.

THE SAME TEAM

The Dalai Lama is smiling down at me,
For he is in the picture of peace I see,
A spiritual leader,
For no matter his hardship and censure,
He is smiling with pleasure,
For he sees no-one as the enemy,
He just wishes to hold hands and walk in harmony,
For all Tibetans laugh, sing and smile,
For every stranger is welcome home,
And you are uplifted by their simplicity,
For in the mountains you find the stillness of peace,
In the unity
Of the commons.

I send you peace,
I send you happiness,
For to laugh is to break the ice,
To joke is to share the humour,
For all life is in relationship,
And we are all learning from our mistakes,
For it is not to be seen to be,
But to live in authenticity,
That is the making of the man,
For the principled leader reveals his hands,
And shows his face,
For he is not living in fear of censure,
Or censuring what he fears,
The greatest leader walks in truth and visibility,
And we need leaders in this time of change,
Who can resolve the many conflicts that will arise,
For our world is not at peace.

Conscious governance,
Is participatory governance,
Addressing problems honestly,
Engaging in public forums to share responsibility,
Collective problem solving is civility,
With the objective of harmony,
The end game is common-unity,
Fostering the process of democracy we all say we live.

For we must become the change we wish to see,
For our children to live in real peace,
For their future is formed on lines of division as control,
Environmental collapse of over consumption is the toll,
For the multiple propensity to consume is 17:1,
As the north and south poles will reverse,
And melting icecaps displace the weight on plates,
An ecological footprint that leaves an unequal impression,
For freedom of expression must be facilitated,
And conflicts resolved,
Abuse devolved and discarded,
By universities open to change, diversity and harmony,
For infinite possibilities are waiting to be found,
But only on the ground of mutual understanding,
And respect.

I know you have listened but not heard me,
I know you are not interested,
My words were not self interest,
I see the big picture,
I see the writing on the wall,
And I speak up to show you potentials,
It is not a power game,
Yet it reveals the game of power that is in no-one’s interests,
For we are on the same team,
When living on purpose,
For this is the bursary of true excellence,
An endowment for the future.
