Madonna Sees the Light in the Darkness of Trump

I saw this article on Madonna indicating Trump is doing a great service. Indeed he is, but not intentionally. She wisely has seen that people have to wake up, that indeed they have taken their rights and freedoms for granted. They have here in Australia and Western countries. In the poorer countries they have had to deal with the weight of corruption, poverty and day to day existence (as I have seen).

I have noted the undercurrent of fascism here as it impacted me personally. If I hadn’t gone through my own experience I wouldn’t have thought it true. Experience is a great teacher. When you see people in power who do not respond from ethics or conscience you realise they are in a world that is indifferent to suffering that it is entirely focused on self interest and what you go through is irrelevant to their interests. Thus you don’t exist. Suffering in truth is resistance on some level, compassion will come along side and help work through the unhappiness and powerlessness that is perceived. This is where the experience of inner peace can be felt. When we release resistance we come into the flow of life. It is a powerful experience. I learned from extreme indifference to my suffering that peace was the way for me. I had to make peace with the others, remain in my own truth and yet allow circumstances to unfold without force. I had to learn to resolve my conflict through a spiritual prism which saw the other as an aspect of myself challenging me. They were telling me I am powerless, yet I found I was not powerless when I decided to live ‘to thine own self be true’. I realised that all my inner discord had to be faced with courage. From a compassionate perspective of peace I reconnected with my inner power and saw the drama for what it was. I saw the level they were at and realised they ‘don’t know what they don’t know’. I came to see ‘I know I don’t know’ this for me was the beginning of wisdom. I opened to possibilities. That is what great confusion, crisis and emotional discord will bring you to. The question is do you allow destruction or creation? I chose creation of my life.

I don’t watch the news hardly at all, occasionally if I feel inspired I will overview some articles. I noted that Trump is speaking ‘America first’. I did smile as I would say that has always been the case in foreign policy. Interests have always lead decisions. However, this is really about being visible about interests and I see that as positive, it is not concealed under humanitarian or foreign aid gestures. Protectionism is a response to fear of loss and it has been framed around winning only to benefit self interest which is a corporate religion of business. They will say they are not a charity. He is simply mirroring the corporate dream indoctrinated into him by his class and what is perceived as great in America – self interest, hard work and merit. That is how business frames its philosophy. He is speaking about financial wealth as winning which can be viewed on many levels.

In conflict resolution we talk about seeking a win/win, we speak about coming together and working through problems with shared power as people find themselves in conflict based on flawed presumptions. Dialogue is encouraged to help people understand the other and that they can work problems out in a spirit of mutual benefit. This is a win/win. The win/lose scenario is of the old paradigm where I win you lose. Business is about winners. No-one applauds the hard work of the poor or what is perceived as losers (economically). In this world it is about ‘me’ not you. It is self interested and indulgent where my interests are all that matters and I will take what is mine, you can go eat cake. Does that rhetoric sound familiar in people you know. It is really reflective of a mind set that is deeply fearful and immature that only knows what it wants and goes after it. It seeks its own interests at the expense of others, we can call it competition rather than cooperation. It is self absorbed and unaware of how it impacts others. We can see the pathological or bullying behaviour in forcing or coercion and threats. Control increases within this type of mindset. The bullying behaviour will seek to intimidate and punish anyone that is ‘against us’ or threatening our worldview, in the case of the US, it will be US business interests backed up by the military.

The work of peace of course is much harder because it is all about looking in the mirror and seeing yourself as you are warts and all, without a story of greatness. The greatest courage, as Aung San Suu Kyii said in Hawaii (Rotary Peace Forum) is in compassion and the courage to admit mistakes, to correct errors, to come clean, to share what is fair and respond to the suffering of the people who bare the hardships of repression and poverty. These are lessons the world is going to be learning in the near future. Sometimes people need catalysts to awaken them to the illusion they have been living in. The founding fathers did originate the United States as an example to the world of libertarian values, union between states, self responsibility, valuing life and realising the purpose of life is happiness. Great pain from the civil war of self interest versus collective interests. Abraham Lincoln was a libertarian with a deep sense of balance and equality, these are virtues that arise when you can see others interests as your own. Those of us who give our lives for the collective benefit feel a deep interconnection with the world and a sense of what I do to others I do to myself. We see the oneness. Those driven by fear tend to reflect separation, self interest and try to build walls around themselves to protect themselves from having to deal with complex social questions which force them to engage their values. They feel secure in simple paradigms where 1+1=2. However, everyone has a part to play in the larger human drama and from suffering comes great awakenings and empathy as to why all of it is in all our interests.

I will quote out of a book that was spiritually inspired to go deeper as to why we are in this together.

Your nation was the first to take a loose confederation of individual states and successfully unite them into a cohesive group, each submitting to one central authority;
The people would have greater security and safety, and greater prosperity, too, by cooperating with, rather than fighting with, each other. Far from losing their greatness, each state could become greater still… The same could be made to happen with the 195 nation states of the world today if they were to join together in a United Federation. It could mean an end to war.

What of disagreements?

So long as humans remain attached to outer things, that is true. There is a way to truly eliminate war – and all experience of unrest and lack of peace – but that is a spiritual solution. We are here exploring a geopolitical one. Actually, the trick is to combine the two. spiritual truth must be lived in practical life to change everyday experience.
… “people of power” are more concerned with holding on to their power than with improving the quality of life for all people. The “Haves” know that such a World Federation would inevitably produce more for the “have-nots” – but the “haves” believe this would come at their expense … and they’re giving up nothing.

Isn’t their fear justified – and is wanting to hold on to what you have so long struggled for unreasonable?

First, it is not necessarily true that, to give more to those who now hunger and thirst and live without shelter, others must give up their abundance. As I have pointed out, all you would have to do is take the $1,000,000,000,000 a year spent annually worldwide for military purposes ($14 trillion now) and shift that to humanitarian purposes, and you will have solved the problem without spending an additional penny or shifting any of the wealth from where it now resides to where it does not. (Of course it could be argued that those international conglomerates whose profits come from war and tools for war would be “losers” – as would their employees and all those whose abundance is derived from the world’s conflict consciousness – but perhaps your source of abundance is misplaced. If one has to depend on the world living in strife in order for one to survive, perhaps this dependence explains why your world resists any attempt to create a structure for lasting peace).
As for the second part of your question, wanting to hold onto what you have struggled so long to acquire as an individual or as a nation, is not unreasonable, if you come from an Outside World consciousness.

A What?

If you derive your life’s greatest happiness from experiences obtained only in the Outside World – the physical world outside of yourself – you will never want to give up an ounce of all that you’ve piled up, as a person and a nation, to make you happy. And as long as those who “have not” see their unhappiness tied to the lack of material things, they, too, will get caught in the trap. They will constantly want what you have got, and you will constantly refuse to share it. That is why I said earlier that there is a way to truly eliminate war – and all experience of unrest and lack of peace. But this is a spiritual solution… All of life is spiritual and therefore all of life’s problems are spiritually based – and spiritually solved. Wars are created on your planet because somebody has something that somebody else wants. That is what causes someone to do something that somebody else does not want them to do. All conflict arises from misplaced desire. The only peace in all the world that is sustaining is Internal Peace. (Source)

This gives a feel for another way of seeing the world. Another aspect of the importance of unity consciousness. I just offer it as a contrast to give a contextual field from which to look at current events. Always you choose.

So to the article where Madonna says Donald Trump is ‘doing us a great service’. Do you choose destruction or creation. Get angry or get wise?

The Queen of Pop, 58, said she believes the Republican was elected to warn Americans that they should not take their freedom and rights for granted.

Attempting to put a positive spin on Mr Trump’s impending presidency she said: “He’s actually doing us a great service, because we have gone as low as we can go. We can only go up from here, so what are we going to do?

“We have two choices, destruction and creation. I chose creation.”

Madonna – who was discussing art in the time of protest at the Brooklyn Museum – said it is easy to “fall into the trap of hating on Donald Trump” and to get “caught in the web of despair”, but said people need to start figuring out “what we’re going to do to make it work”.

She continued: “I do believe that Trump was elected for a reason, to show us how lazy and un-unified and lackadaisical and taking for granted we’ve become of our freedom and the rights that we have as Americans.”

She added: “They always say it’s darkest before the dawn and I feel this had to happen to bring people together, so let’s get this party started.”

Her comments come days after Nicole Kidman urged Americans to throw their support behind the new President.

Speaking to Victoria Derbyshire she said: “He’s now elected and we as a country need to support whoever is President because that is what the country is based on.

“However that happened he’s there and let’s go.”

Mr Trump will be officially sworn in as the 45th President of the United States at a ceremony in Washington D.C later today.
