Capitalism is not Sustainable Development

I felt inspired to write this as I deeply explore the reality on the ground.  Capitalism is not democracy but it may use the narrative of a democratic discourse to give the appearance that people have a say when I am experiencing clearly they do not.  As I was walking today I could feel the unsustainability of capitalism.  I just felt to look at a definition.

sustainability

[suh-stey-nuhbil-i-tee]
noun
  1. the ability to be sustained, supported, upheld, or confirmed.
  2. Environmental Sciencethe quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance:The committee is developing sustainability standards for products that use energy.

This not an accurate definition, 1st point is unclear.  2nd point would need to investigate ‘not being harmful’ and ‘ecological balance’.  Then products are mentioned.  Firstly, the word harm is inaccurate it is more correct to state ‘balance’ as we are living in a natural system which resets to homeostasis to maximise optimal life harmonising with change and other organisms.  Those organisms that are out of balance eat out other species which furthers the imbalance until a tipping point arises.  Then nature goes through a recovery phase which has longer time horizons as it sensitively favours what is in harmony.  So the language we use is not in step with nature in any case.    How we can support long term ecological balance when we don’t even know zero point origin of ecological balance nor a deep understanding of how the planet has rebalanced.  We measure x,y,z and then look at change from point A to point B but we don’t know the invisible aspects of nature beyond the human sensing that is active.  Sometimes this can be called chaos and order where there is an order in chaos.  It is the natural order we don’t feel as we seek to analyse order as things turning up the same way which gives us predictability which is where we feel secure as our unseen aspects of fear of starvation prompt us to control what is not controllable.

I found this definition which feels more in alignment.

Sustainable Development

Sustainable development has been defined in many ways, but the most frequently quoted definition is from Our Common Future, also known as the Brundtland Report:

“Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

If we look at this in respect of capitalism and infinite growth modelling it is clear the future generations needs are indeed compromised.  The economic environment is short term, siloed (despite IT), visions are self oriented or group oriented without any sense of the whole. The intent is not to rebalance or recalibrate so the sum of the parts exceeds the whole it is to maximise the needs of the few without any sense of connectedness to the whole nor the future.  Indeed the future is only seen through a prism of removing anything that impacts the survival of the few in the future.  This is what I felt to describe as the ‘selfish gene’ that is deeply embedded in capitalism. Economics per se was really about reallocation of resources efficiently to benefit the whole but it became subsumed by market concentration (cheaper inputs contrasted with small business facing high costs, no buyer power), political influence (change regulations to suit industries) and a focus on profit maximisation that has the feeling of total market dominance coming from the same spectrum of full spectrum dominance which believes success is in total control rather than sharing.

The psychology in this in my view is a form of narcissistic personality disorder that completely disconnects from nature (others) and is totally focused on its own needs unable to perceive the needs of others who are indeed part of the ecosystem.  I note the IT narrative uses the words ecosystem without any deep understanding of what an ecosystem is.  I feel the words ‘echo’ system thus returning to the origin.  What is put out comes back. So what is sculptured in the name of compliance sculptures the maker of this technology in its own image.  Sounds a bit like god and indeed many think they are as absolute power corrupts absolutely.  You do not know what you do not know and this is the blind spot I speak about in blogs.  Other words are ignorance, unconsciousness, selfishness, ‘me generation’ and so on.  Is there blame in this.  No.  It is what it is.  I know that we have to go through what we are not in order to find who we are.  Ultimately we are all connected even if those disconnected mentally and emotionally cannot perceive this, the reality is we are energetically connected and we live in a vibrational universe constantly responding to thought, word and action.  That is why statements like ‘what you see in your world is a mirror of yourself’.  We see how we are not how others are.  Awareness of this turns reflection inward so we examine our own assumptions, beliefs, rationale’s, unquestioned paradigms to seek for truth.  I often say the truth sets you free, indeed it does as it forces one back to look within.

Capitalism is about capital.  It is about money.  It is about digital currency.  It is about flows.  It is about felt abundance.  It is about security and power.  The powerless always seek power, those power-full do not need to seek power as it always comes from within.  If you do not go within you go with out is another way of perceiving this.   The inner world creates the outer and that becomes your own reality that you believe is true.  It is constructed on the scaffolding of education which is believed without many questions.  Yet questions are the portals that open to higher intelligence as we question for what is true.  We allow the inner truth to illuminate outer truth.  Truth is not a concept is it a living experience in reality and it comes from an intelligence that permeates all life, the life we didn’t create, including ourselves.  The natural world is proof itself of intelligence that is beyond our understanding.  That is why opening to truth enables humility to open perspectives to see the world differently outside of security paradigms that reinforce given collective belief systems.  I am writing this with a flow not a logic as I am allowing a flow to guide exploration of capitalism without tapping into internet definitions or text book beliefs.   Poetry is an excellent way of accessing other ways of seeing as natural intuition is not blocked, natural intelligence is allowed without analysis.  The spirit of things rather than the Internet of Things becomes the real ecosystem reflecting back to me my thoughts without other thoughts as I seek to contour what this means.

We don’t know what we don’t know is a truism.  We take for granted what turns up every day as ‘normal’ and it feels safe as we are used to it. We adapt very easily to environments as we feel comfort in the rhythm of routine.  We become bored with this but we shape change to fit in to our environment in order to de-escalate stress (fear of powerlessness). We are constantly and unconsciously seeking for security as we feel safe and not threatened.  Unpredictability is very fearful for us so we seek to plan and prepare against what could be spontaneous, unpredictable, random or outside of our comfort zone.  Rather than accepting what comes in as part of the natural order that is to be greeted with excitement rather than fear.  Our natural state would integrate what is unknown as we learn to become familiar with it. What we typically do is attack what is feared rather than be explorers and investigate firstly our own fear and secondly the fool’s gold in this difference. On higher levels, intelligence actually looks for what is different and immediately assimilates.  As the objective is expansion not a steady state.  It is to expand universal ideas and manifestation to create more and more.  It is in creation not profitability that the joy is experienced.  Profit tends to lead to status and false inequalities that create imbalance and more insecurity parades as lines of control.  The other focus of creativity and expansion is about allowance not control, it is about exploring not knowing, it is about innovation not sameness, it is fun not boring and this is where the aliveness comes.  Capitalism is about maximising those digits it is not about personal expansion of consciousness that takes us beyond what we know which is where the real adventures take place. We can create cyber worlds and imagineer those expanded worlds but that is just two dimension (even with 3D glasses) it is not the same as the experiential reality that is the lived experiential intelligence that integrates knowledge. It is said that knowledge applied is wisdom. It is the wisdom that doesn’t make the same mistakes, that learns, evolves, expands and observes.

Capitalism is a separate state of consciousness that is uni-polar, it moves towards sameness not diversity as control becomes the goal not connectivity in the sense of true human connection. True human connection is to expand into a sense of oneness, particularly love and romantic bonding, it merges, it is not a digital reality of illusory experiences.  The real love expands us beyond ourselves into the very epi-centre of life itself.  It is the energy that not only moves mountains but goes interstellar. I watched Intersteller again last night.  I loved that this film was originally about going into space to save the human race, even though the lead scientist lost hope in humanity (I wonder how many today are him?).  So the mission was not about returning but seeding new civilisations. The crew were not informed as it was believed they would act selfishly (for family) rather than selflessly to save humanity.  To go beyond self.  As I was watching I was feeling this was about the same time as now.  Particularly when the dust storms came to the house, I saw climate change.  I wondered at NASA and secret operations exploring other space time continuum’s.  I saw Back to the Future the night before so for me all connects.  I don’t see it as random. I see it as synchronicity for me to explore in this blog now.  I am in a wholistic mindset rather than siloed.

So back to Interstellar and together we will come back to capitalism as it all appears part of the same theme.  Interestingly it starts with dust storms.  I like post-truth society. As follows:

In the mid-21st century, crop blights and dust storms threaten humanity’s survival. Joseph Cooper, a widowed engineer and former NASA pilot, runs a farm with his father-in-law Donald, son Tom, and daughter Murph. Living in a post-truth society, Cooper is reprimanded for telling Murph that the Apollo missions did occur; he encourages her to carefully observe and record what she sees. They discover that strange dust patterns, which Murph first attributes to a ghost, result from gravity variations and translate into geographic coordinates. These lead them to a secret NASA facility headed by Cooper’s former supervisor, Professor John Brand, who explains that 48 years earlier awormhole appeared near Saturn, opening a path to a distant galaxy with twelve potentially habitable planets located near a black hole named “Gargantua”. Volunteers had previously traveled through the wormhole to evaluate the planets, and astronauts Miller, Edmunds, and Mann reported positive results. Professor Brand explains he has conceived two plans to ensure humanity’s survival. Plan A involves developing a gravitationalpropulsion theory, allowing a mass exodus from Earth, while Plan B is a conventional launch of the Endurance spacecraft (equipped with two Ranger SSTOspaceplanes and two Lander cargo craft) with 5,000 frozenembryos to colonize a habitable planet. Cooper is recruited to pilot the Endurance. When Murph refuses to see him off, he leaves her his wristwatch to compare their relative time when he returns.

The crew consists of Cooper, the robots TARS and CASE, and the scientists Dr. Amelia Brand (Professor Brand’s daughter), Dr. Romilly, and Dr. Doyle. After traversing the wormhole, Cooper, Doyle and Amelia use a Ranger to investigate Miller’s planet, an ocean world. After landing in knee-high water and finding only wreckage from Miller’s expedition, a gigantic tidal wave kills Doyle and delays departure. Due to the proximity to the black hole, time is severely dilated; 23 years have elapsed on Endurance by the time they return.

Having enough fuel for only one of the other two planets, Cooper rules they go to Mann’s, as he is still broadcasting. En route, they receive messages from Earth. Murph, now a scientist, has learned from Professor Brand on his deathbed that Plan B was his only real plan, since Plan A required gravitational singularity data from within a black hole.

On Mann’s planet, the Endurance crew revive Mann from cryostasis. He assures them colonization is possible, despite an extreme environment. On an excursion, Mann attempts to kill Cooper and reveals that he falsified data in the hope of being rescued. He steals Cooper’s lander and heads for the Endurance. While a booby trap set by Mann kills Romilly, Amelia rescues Cooper with the other lander and they race to the Endurance. Mann is killed in a failed manual docking operation with Ranger 1, severely damaging the Endurance. Through a difficult docking maneuver, Cooper regains control. With insufficient fuel, they resort to a slingshot around Gargantua which costs them another 51 years. In the process, Cooper and TARS jettison Ranger 2 and Lander 1 to allow Amelia and CASE to reach Edmunds’ planet. Slipping past the event horizon of Gargantua, they eject from their craft and find themselves in a tesseract, possibly constructed by humans of the far future. Across time, Cooper can see through the bookcases of Murph’s old room on Earth and weakly interact with its gravity. Realizing that he is now Murph’s “ghost”, he manipulates the second hand of the wristwatch he gave her, transmitting the quantum data that TARS collected from inside the event horizon via Morse code.

The tesseract, its purpose completed, collapses and ejects Cooper and TARS. Cooper awakes on a space habitat orbiting Saturn. He reunites with his daughter, now an old woman nearing death. Using the quantum data, she was able to develop the gravitational propulsion theory, enabling humanity’s exodus and transformation into an advanced spacefaring civilization. She reminds Cooper that Amelia is out there alone. Cooper and TARS take a spacecraft to rejoin Amelia and CASE, who are setting up a human colony on Edmunds’ habitable planet.

What is fascinating about this overview is that Wikipedia (or whoever wrote it) didn’t mention love which was the key message of the film.  It was filtered out as the consciousness writing this was looking for facts, drama but not the interstellar inter dimensional reality of love and higher dimensions. It was not possibly created by humans the realisation was that ‘it was humans of a higher dimension who had learned how to create a 3D space in a 5D reality of oneness would be my thought.  Interestingly this dimensional corridor is Murph’s life and my feeling would be possible lives. It would be highly complex if it was to be depicted.  3D thinking is in the drama, 5D is oneness where there is no separation.  There are multiple possibilities. So the ghost of Cooper is really him creating a bridge across dimensions to his 3D daughter observing the story of himself self and seeking to send a message to STAY.  Don’t let him leave.  Yet he had to have a certain perception in each moment for the full picture to emerge. Had he not left Murph would not have used the quantum data to create the Cooper station that orbited Saturn.

The symbolic nature of Saturn is expressed in this article:

The meaning of the dream symbol: Saturn

Contrary to the somewhat superficial views of some commentators, it was only at a comparatively late period that the Romans identified their god, Saturn, with the Greek god, cronos. Saturn’s association with King Janus, who appears to have welcomed him to Rome, left behind memories of a golden age and, in this context, he symbolizes the culture-hero and especially the one who teaches the arts of agriculture. At his festival, the Saturnalia, the social order was reversed and slaves ruled their masters, the latter serving their slaves at table.

This may perhaps have been a faint echo of the fact that Saturn had dethroned his father Uranus (ouranos), before being dethroned in his turn by his son Zeus or Jupiter. Similarly, such ceremonies might be interpreted in the psychoanalytic sense of the Oedipus complex, the overthrow of the god, father or master. For the brief period of the Saturnalia the people imposed upon their leaders the fate which the latter had imposed upon their fathers, and the fate which Saturn had held in store for his own father.

The Sumerians and Babylonians regarded the planet Saturn as that of righteousness and justice and here we find echoes of the significance it must originally have had in Rome. Saturn was apparently connected with the Sun’s office of fecundation, of government and of continuity, one ruler succeeding another as season succeeds season.

In astrology, Saturn embodies the principle of concentration, contraction, fixation, condensation and inertia. That extraordinary powers of working evil are attributed to the planet is only just, since it symbolizes obstacles of all sorts, barriers, dearth, misfortune, impotence and paralysis. Its good influence provides a depth of penetration which is the fruit of profound reflection and constant striving, and corresponds with loyalty, constancy, knowledge, self-denial, chastity and piety. Its two Houses – Capricorn and Aquarius – are opposed to those of the stars and therefore to the light and joy of being. Physically, Saturn rules the skeletal frame.

So going back to captialism, I see through this exploration that a reversal is happening e.g. “…the social order was reversed and slaves ruled their masters, the latter serving their slaves at table.”

I would say not ‘ruled’ but equality or empathy through those perceived as masters serving those they enslaves, this is how higher knowledge is experienced through role reversal.  I started this blog with “We don’t know what we don’t know”, Interstellar came into this as we are exploring how to survive as a species and love was brought into the equation or what I would say is the interstellar space around all objects, it is space and time and beyond it.  Love is what moves us to save each other, love is what moves us to put another ahead of us.  It is the very selflessness that is the oneness with space where there is no self in truth.  This is to say when we pass over (die) we continue on as all energy transforms (2nd law of thermodynamics) and this is where science and love can dance together one is ‘being’ the other is ‘doing’ but when they come together you can ‘be to do to have’ rather than ‘do to be to have’.  In other words you do not have to do anything, just be true to yourself and you will be anchoring in your true nature which will take you to where you need to go.  In the film Interstellar Connor made logical decisions based on science but found himself completely in the unknown, he screamed in the 3D matrix [within 5D] as he didn’t have the answers, he felt stuck, powerless, unable to know.  It was Zars that helped define the context of where he was (he felt security) so he could understand and then insight brought him realisation (outside of science, inspiration), his love of his daughter was what drew him into this reality based on a higher 5D reality (which is his 5D self) I would say.   So you may feel confused reading this, that is good.  For when we don’t know we open to possibilities.  It is not to know everything it is to explore life as it is the greater matrices or lattice work or even tapestry of our infinite lives.

Capitalism is a 3D matrix that is unaware of the whole, unaware of love, unmoved by inner metaphysical reality (unless control can happen, security within that), as it thinks money is power and unlimitedness.  This is the illusion that operates in the human mind outside of nature which is multidimensional.  That is why the film matrix used the metaphor of this holographic reality as the metaphor for us all plugged into computers, normalised narratives, conforming (as we feel secure, pack animals) and living out of unquestioned patterns that we think is who we are.  It is a unbroken story or I see I ching – an unbroken line.  Yet to move beyond this is to jump to the broken line, perhaps even fall through it and allow uncertainty, spontaneity and uncertainty (I just wrote that unthinkingly and saw two broken lines).  Creativity moves my mind out of logic into metaphor.  I just Googled I Ching Spontaneity and found Lao Tzu. For those who know my work they would be aware that the Master Lao Tzu (Dao De Jing) was my first teacher.  So I read this to gain a sense of how it illustrates the meaning (order) of this blog:

Tao Te Ching Chapter 1

J Legge

Abstaining from speech marks him who is obeying the spontaneity of his nature. A violent wind does not last for a whole morning; a sudden rain does not last for the whole day. To whom is it that these (two) things are owing? To Heaven and Earth. If Heaven and Earth cannot make such (spasmodic) actings last long, how much less can man!

Therefore when one is making the Tao his business, those who are also pursuing it, agree with him in it, and those who are making the manifestation of its course their object agree with him in that; while even those who are failing in both these things agree with him where they fail.

Hence, those with whom he agrees as to the Tao have the happiness of attaining to it; those with whom he agrees as to its manifestation have the happiness of attaining to it; and those with whom he agrees in their failure have also the happiness of attaining (to the Tao).

(But) when there is not faith sufficient (on his part), a want of faith (in him) ensues (on the part of the others).

Tao Te Ching Chapter 23

J H McDonald

Nature uses few words:
when the gale blows, it will not last long;
when it rains hard, it lasts but a little while;
What causes these to happen? Heaven and Earth.

Why do we humans go on endlessly about little
when nature does much in a little time?
If you open yourself to the Tao,
you and Tao become one.

If you open yourself to Virtue,
then you can become virtuous.

If you open yourself to loss,
then you will become lost.

If you open yourself to the Tao,
the Tao will eagerly welcome you.
If you open yourself to virtue,
virtue will become a part of you.
If you open yourself to loss,
the lost are glad to see you.

“When you do not trust people,
people will become untrustworthy.”

(note this is the mirror I speak of – what you see in another is in yourself)

Tao Te Ching Chapter 23

Lin Yutang

Nature says few words:
Hence it is that a squall lasts not a whole morning.
A rainstorm continues not a whole day.
Where do they come from?
From Nature.
Even Nature does not last long (in its utterances),
How much less should human beings?

Therefore it is that:
He who follows the Tao is identified with the Tao.
He who follows Character (Teh) is identified with Character.
He who abandons (Tao) is identified with abandonment (of Tao).
He who is identified with Tao –
Tao is also glad to welcome him.
He who is identified with character –
Character is also glad to welcome him.
He who is identified with abandonment –
Abandonment is also glad t welcome him.
He who has not enough faith
Will not be able to command faith from others.

Therefore, I am identifying with the tao when I allow the flow in this blog to just write itself without my ego trying to impress the reader.  There is a underlying order in chaos, if I do not try and make this logical but allow it to flow in trust then natural intelligence can be felt without an agenda.  Our captialist world is without faith and therefore it is not sustainable as the whole is not the goal only those seeking their own ends.  They believe the ends justifies the means.  Rather than examining the means to the ends.  As I said before, we have to go through what we are not to arrive at who we are.  So there is no blame here, it is life expressing the alpha and the omega, the yin and yang to recalibrate to what is balance.  Spontaneity is really jumping tracks out of conditioned programs allowing the recalibration to happen naturally.

Capitalism is disconnected from the whole that is why it is not sustainable.

I send you peace, love and may you come to realise how incredible when you identify with the Tao, Dao, Oneness and your true nature.  I am finding my Way.
