Do You Expect the Spanish Inquisition?

Humour often comes out in response to seriousness in all its forms.  There were many jokes around that time going around.  Any form of repression attracts humour as it rebalances power.

In relation to peace would this be seen as disrespectful?  In a moral framework some would feel offended.  However, if peace is making peace with where you are then anything negative one brings a positive feeling to.  I think of Byron Katie here who would ask (negative statement) is it true?

If we can laugh even at the things we see as important, can we transcend the serious nature of a belief.  Humour perhaps is about transcending the thinking mind to engage the heart of levity.

I like this skit as it lightens all forms of seriousness with a soft landing.  How many times have you heard ‘is this the Spanish Inquisition?’ when someone feels interrogated.  I smile.

Perhaps we have to put all serious people in the comfy chair.  Confess – oh well okay I did it (what was it again?).  Maybe just laugh at all of it.  Its good the Spanish Inquisition caught the bus to get to the Old Bailey just in time to complete the skit, well err it was The End, so punchline didn’t really happen.  Perhaps imperfect timing is perfect timing.
