The Mindset of War Defeats Itself
There are many Caesar’s out there. They come in all shapes and sizes. What they have in common is they believe in fighting to win. Yet always they fall as Gandhi wisely observed.
RENDER UNTO CAESER WHAT IS CAESER’S
From my sadness,
I sought to unveil my joy,
For indifference was the toy,
That toyed with my heart,
For how can someone say nothing?
How can another care nothing for another’s pain?
For these were the questions that drove my life to seek peace,
For how could I live … otherwise?
What is empathy?
But feeling for another’s plight,
For to imagine another as your self is where we join,
Standing back removed is where one becomes aloof and strained,
For he watches as a scientist explores the Petrie dish,
Without involvement he watches,
But never does he imagine that the object and the observer affect each other,
For how can this be so when we are separated?
For chaos is not a theory in fact!
To jump the track of indifference I have to care no matter appearances,
I have to reveal my heart no matter impediments,
For to let fear shut one down strips the colour from our world,
Conformity becomes the uniformity one calls acceptance,
Modernity becomes the fashion one calls belonging,
Yet what if I am different and don’t seek to belong?
What if I sing to another song?
A clarion call for harmony as the One song
to bring our civilisation home together.
What if I choose truth over acceptance?
What if I choose love over belonging?
What if I am prepared to stand alone?
Would I render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s?
And unto God’s what is God’s?
For I thank God I can see the difference that love makes,
For making love does not require two halves,
It is the natural state of the whole truth
Loving what is and loving what isn’t,
As God shuffles the cards for another game and asks
And Another!
Yet this time I say no,
It is time to go home,
As I’ve seen the game for what it is,
As each player plays against the other to win,
For I never sought to win but offer a new strategy,
Where it was never about winning but how the game was played,
I ask:
Did the players recognise fairness?
Did they reveal their hands in truthfulness?
For the real game of life understands the purpose
is to live, laugh and play together,
To be better players as one competes with themselves,
For this is the real meaning of living on purpose,
Yet Caesar fought for power politics over play,
His status over authenticity,
He lived for the end game,
To discover the mind set of war over love never wins,
It only defeats itself
in The End.
