Military Cooperation for Future Sustainability A New Global Marshall Plan for Nature

The video below is produced by Jim Channon former Vietnam Veteran and founder of the special US Army unit entitled New Earth Batallion.  This was a batallion that was experimental and worked on creating peaceful soldiers. Soldiers were trained in the ancient arts of harmony and learning about the true power inherent within utilised for peaceful purposes and in support of the planet. The soldiers were trained to be real peacemakers rather than peacekeepers. It is in my view a philosophy whoes time has arrived as traditional armies no longer work and it is clear through the uprisings around the world people are no longer accepting control.

In this video he explains that the military could be deployed to assist the people and the planet in times of emergency.  I sense this vision as the new militaries of the future.  A redirection of focus from aggression to restoration, indeed reparations in my view. Militaries will mature and re-envisage their purpose from destructive practices to restorative practices whereby they will win the hearts and minds of millions and become a real power for peace on this planet.

Real security comes from securing support systems. There can be no peace or national security if the planet’s systems are collapsing. The greatest threat to the planet is the degrading biosphere. The greatest hope for the planet is to relearn that we are one civilisation and it is time to work cooperatively for the greater good. It is no longer possible to pursue strategies that work competitively against others.
