What Is Your Reason for Living? Do You Choose Life?

LOVE LIFE

The working life,

Takes us from home,

For this becomes our family,

This is the social contact,

An economic contract,

That structures our thinking.

By preferring the competent,

It excludes the incompetent,

For reputation is the currency exchanged,

Position re-orders the family,

Power is personal and absolute,

For democracy is not working,

Compassion is unemployed,

Humour is disruptive to the flow,

Amusing only to the court,

For time is money,

At the end of the day,

Time is bought.

Yet time is the opportunity,

To live your life fully,

For the end of life is swift,

Left in contemplation

Memories colour the experience,

Of who I am?

Was this a journey of love or fear?

For these are the sponsoring thoughts that reveal,

Trembling on the edge of an uncertain tear,

Am I wounded or did I heal?

Was I the structure or did I go beyond this game?

Did I extend kindness or remain strong to be sane?

For only the sentimental reveal their heart,

Yet the heart is the memory that never forgets,

For is it better to be right or happy?

Intelligent or wise?

Deriving value by being?

Or being seen to be?

This is the philosophical inquiry,

Of our time.

Is the cup half empty or half full?

The seed awaits the right conditions to break through,

For the flower of who you are is the most beautiful rose,

A garden of potential,

The weeds are merely negative thoughts,

But an astute gardener cultivates for health,

Healthy thoughts,

Healthy exercise,

Healthy heart,

This is the bouquet that blooms as you walk into the room,

For you are equal to every variety,

We are all simply colours in this spectrum,

Each completes the picture,

For the picture is the experience of the artist,

The experience formulates the palette we choose,

Do we focus on the flower or the thorns?

Are we invigorated or forlorn?

Children adore you for they can see,

They are unfettered by the pressure to be,

They are looking for love,

For the simple truth is not fact,

The child is at home in the heart,

Innocent and free,

A life of simplicity,

Where all is accepted,

All are one,

The reason for living,

Is to have some fun,

For there is nothing to fear,

There is nothing to lose,

Love is there for you,

Whenever you choose

Life.
