Intend Peace As The Gift Of Your Life To Others

I am intending peace by publishing this poem.  I especially send it to the people of Syria.  I watched  Insight tonight on SBS television.  I watched carefully all the people representing different viewpoints.  It was a passionate and at times angry discussion.  I tried to look through the labels of ‘us and them’ and see the people by looking into the eyes of the other.  I saw the power of beliefs divide people, I saw people smiling smuggly with those they agreed and resentment towards those they disagree.   I wondered if they had been taught peace education how they would see each other.  I thought of my own REAL HOPE program.  I saw it as needed more than ever, but I must wait until it is called for.

Imagine a world where we can listen to hear, communicate to share, seek to understand those who are opposite us.  Those are the moments when democracy is learned. One cannot fight for freedom or democracy you can only live it by example.

I send love to all Syrian people, to the Israeli’s nextdoor, to those external interests agitating for more violence.

I imagine nonviolence as the answer and sharing power as the key.

I send peace to this troubled world.

WAKING TO THE GIFT OF YOUR LIFE

I am awake

As the world sleeps,

I feel deeply tired,

Yet the butterflies of joy,

Dance and sing around my flower,

For I am open to the sunshine,

I am alive and free,

To see,

My inner smile,

A radiant sun,

Sending solar flares of excitement,

To warm the solar system of my life,

On a trajectory,

No-one knows.

I have learned to love uncertainty,

I have learned to love that I have enough,

For I am loving my own self determination,

Loving the mystery and the muse,

For life is amusing when you stop to smell the roses,

For every person is a bouquet of possibilities,

Tickling the curiosity of a future,

For the wind softly curls around the leaf of my book,

Flicking pages,

Taking me to new stages,

For the current of life is carrying me,

Home.

I know the magic of surprise,

The delight in new horizons,

I know the truth behind silence,

That there is nothing to fear,

There is nothing to hide,

When life is celebration,

When life is opportunity,

How can one keep one’s light under a bushel,

When this moment in time is so short,

And I am here to invite you,

To give this light to you,

for free-dom.

Yet I see some on the treadmill,

They are working 9-5,

Indeed 9-9,

Many feel it is endless pressure,

Endless hours,

Where they arrive,

To leave,

On time.

Yet this life is not a job description,

It is the essence of freedom,

For you can always choose,

And indeed you do,

For there are the few,

Who see the game of life,

Who play with frivolity,

Who thirst for challenge,

As creativity weaves its unknown threads,

Into a future,

For we are all interconnected.

Remember this is a never ending story,

The universe is vast,

Make each moment last,

Each thought your first,

For we create with our intentions,

We are at cause of our life,

We are never victims of circumstance,

Although at times that can seem true,

Yet know you are the beauty,

You are the decider,

For you frame the picture,

You write the words to your script,

And this is the eclipse,

That can cover the sun,

Or reveal the brightness,

And that is the gift of life,

Given to you.
