The Spirit of Christmas Gives the Gift of Happiness as Love

THE GIFT OF HAPPINESS IS LOVE

In the spirit of Christmas,
I respond to you,
For your words inspired me,
To express what makes me free,
In the moments when I forget,
Who I am.

I have found wisdom,
Under the cobblestones on my journey,
The stones have been in my shoe,
It is in the moments of discomfort,
When I step out of my comfort zone,
That I examine the source of my fear,
And it is a loss of faith,
Between each fearful tear,
Yet it is to embrace
to face what we fear,
Brings forth the sunshine of a new day,
Brings back the love of life when I remember,
Who I am.

I have felt the fear of poverty,
For I left my job out of principle,
Yet it is not so simple,
I applied for another and felt rejected again,
I felt valueless and this is the real poverty,
To not belong,
To sing a different song,
To not have enough for a shout,
To buy food of lower quality,
For when money did come I had a tear,
For I could walk up an aisle of luxury,
And give a gift to myself,
Yet beneath that was the gift of gratitude,
And this is the greatest gift of all,
For I was never poor just under funded,
I became humble and only took what I needed,
And made wise choices,
Innovative voices directed me to make things happen without money,
So this became my gift to the world,
To bring joy and happiness,
And this I give to all.

I have felt the fear of homelessness,
Indeed I have felt I have no home,
For I am living in other’s houses,
I have felt my own family were not warm and welcoming,
But troubled and contentious,
So I asserted my truth,
I embraced why I felt hurt,
I cried in bitter disappointment,
Yet I faced myself with why?
In my heart I had to cry,
And after the storm passed,
I had to forgive their wounds and mine,
For family is not cotton wool,
It is not the cocoon of the world,
It is the mirror in which I see myself,
And it is the new self that must survive without ego,
A little plant pushing up through a hard earth,
I now fly with new wings in freedom.

I see no racism only fear and ignorance,
For when one befriends another,
Their religion and race goes undercover,
For the veil is lifted on humanity,
As one sees through the insanity,
That we are one,
And we must be astute not to divide,
For the family is in turmoil,
The media is on boil,
For they are raising the temperature,
Repeating stories of hate,
Chinese whispers of Aladdin’s dark night,
Why don’t they speak of the happy ending?
Where others join together holding hands?
Attempting to understand differences?
Diversity within unity?
These are the messages I look for,
These are the messengers of truth,
This is the angel that is playing the flute,
Sweet music to my ears,
She beckons us to return home to the heart,
We must see with love,
We must weed out all fears,
And smile in the face of contention in peace,
See through the pretentious face,
For life is an extension of love.

The language of religion is simply speaking in different tongues,
Yet the feeling of love is the same no matter the doctrine or creed,

Let’s be greedy to give love,
Let’s gossip about fun stories with no malice,
Let’s inspire to the highest goals of virtue,
Let’s come together and make music with laughter,

This is what it means to be a season that is jolly,
This is what it means to be holy,
For this is the force more powerful,
For power does not force,
It is a course in miracles,
It is aware of its response-ability,
That is you have the ability to respond,
To any situation with nonviolence,
To take back the streets in harmony,
Speaking up for truth and love,
in peace,
So others may see they are never alone,
Divided and conquered,
For we are each other’s keepers.

This is the One Song,
A harmonic Christmas carol in tune,
Which is the mass that christ offers you,
He turns water into wine,
For this does not mean alcohol,
It is the elixir that makes one high on life,
Given to you this day and night,
As the holy grail,
That is only discovered,
When you fall in love …
with yourself,
And through you …
the World,
for now we know,
Peace on Earth,
As the new earth arises from sleep,
As the bringer of the dawn.
