The Alchemy of Friendship

THE ALCHEMY OF FRIENDSHIP

Many speak of global community,
They speak of the desire for peace,
Yet they work long hours and have no time,
For friendship,
Or building community,
At home.

One can create a Facebook page,
And have a 1,000 contacts,
But no real friends,
To talk, exchange to make life busy,
To appear popular,
So that one is never alone,
In a cyber community of sitcoms.

True friendship is family,
These are the bonds that run deep,
These are the real stories exchanged,
Listening to hear,
Speaking to share,
Loving to show care,
For they are watching over you,
They are interested in you,
They keep in touch with you,
For when the heart opens,
It doesn’t close because you leave,
Your friends go with you on the journey,
For they support who you are,
And unconditional love is there,
And this is the friend that greets you at the door,
Leaves the spare key,
For you always have a home in their heart,
And this is the power of one.

For we will never find unity,
Until we are united within ourselves,
And then see ourselves in others,
To send a friendly message,
To encourage good will,
Makes a world of difference,
In a world that doesn’t believe it makes a difference,
Yet love was always the answer,
That few heard.

So my friends,
Go deep,
Take it further,
Speak more,
Accept the fire,
And the frost,
For life is up and down,
But friendship is the phoenix that rises from the ashes,
No matter the challenge,
It is not fair-weather,
Or fleeting to fill a gap,
Or keeping company,
It is real and genuine,
And stands with you as you make your stand,
Reminding you that you are never alone,
Friendship is the bricks and mortar of community,
It is the true structure that makes the impossible possible,
It is the bridge across troubled waters,
It is the water that runs around obstacles,
And I can think of nothing more beautiful,
Then the alchemy of friendship,
That sees with the eyes of love,
That you are treasured,
As life itself.

Peace and love
