You Are What You Think?

I was just flicking radio stations today when I heard a speaker talking about conformity and wording his speech in questions. I really liked it as he challenged prevailing thinking and regarding unquestioned conformity as negative. He spoke of independent thinkers, I thought ‘I am an independent thinker’, he got my attention. He spoke of many being alone, that is true, I find I can’t be around mindless chatter. I really like people very much and I do chat with a lot of people as I move through life, but I am not into television programs or the latest fashions, doesn’t do anything for me. I tend to prefer my own company as I have so many thoughts that I just can’t wait to explore them. Being a poet is great fun as you start to expand on things you thought. I play a lot with ideas, I don’t restrict things because they seem wild, I just sit with it. If some synchronicity happens, I pay attention or if I get a strong feeling (like today), I may act on it and look at it. So this I wrote tonight reflecting on independent thought and it ended up an exploration of reality. I like the last sentence, that is where our limit is. This is very long for me, but if you read it carefully you will feel the layers there. Much of it is ? you choose.

WHAT YOU THINK CREATES REALITY?

I think therefore I am,
Is it the philosophy of independent thought?
A universal biorhythm cycle,
A wave theory of spirals,
Imagining from an array of possibilities,
A wave forms into a particle when chosen?
As the arrows of questions,
Find new directions,
In multi-directional thinking,
As above so below,
To feel is to know yourself,
And this is the rhythm of impulse.

What is thinking?
Is it linear thought?
Is it noisy mental chatter?
Meditators speak of no thought,
Is thought awareness?

What is god?
Does god exist?
De bono told me god doesn’t think,
How does he know this?
Is God expansive and expressive?
Are we playing with ideas?
Or is the idea of god to play,
Are we being thought?

Are we the creator of our reality?
Yet how can we know this?
I determine which thoughts I believe or disbelieve,
I choose which thoughts are real or unreal,
But what is real?
Or is thought the feeling of poetry from the heart clumsily described by thoughts translated into words?
Which is fact or fantasy?
Which is fear or love?
Do you feel resonant or repulsive?
And this is the power of choice my friends,
Where did this power come from?

Therefore: Beliefs select your reality.

Let’s play…

Those who think they are business people,
Are taught to think about profit as success,
To imagine ways to make more money,
To find markets, suppliers, customers,
To ensure profits are rising exponentially,
For their reality is measured by Dow Jones, FTSE 100, The Nikkei, Wall Street,
And Standards and Poor 200,
For being poor is below standard,
Triggers sell signals and crashing market forces,
On the shore of uncertainty,
As only ‘greed is good’ in stock exchanges,
For wealth is exchanged for happiness,
And these are the bearers of promissory notes,
Redeemed by the next generation.

Those who think they are mothers,
Are taught to think about being a good parent,
For every motherhood statement,
Defines their role as the primary carer,
To feel is to think about the children’s future,
It is raising the profit of self esteem potentially,
A warm jumper, play lunch and back pack,
Become the standards above being poor,
For conformity at school ensures happiness,
For those with emotional intelligence are the forbearers of the next generation.

Therefore: Who you think and what you feel you are
contextualises your reality

So if you think you are right,
Someone must be wrong,
If you think you are intelligent,
Someone must be dull,
If you think you are beautiful,
Someone must be ugly,
And this is how we think about duality,
We measure the self by others,
We attach positives or negatives as social codes,
We define what we are by what we think is opposite or different,
We can only find success when there is failure,
We can only raise good children when others are naughty,
Thus yin and yang comprise the circle,
The dark element turning into the light,
For life is up and down,
Hot and cold,
Lucky and unlucky,
Happy then sad,
Loving then hateful,
Peaceful then at war,
Opposites yet part of an integrated whole.

Therefore: We define who we are by what is not

Imagine a world with no opposites then what do we see?
What do we see when we don’t think?
Is there no future?
Is there no judgement?
No definition?
No decision?
No thing?
For does god not think?
Is this the place of zero point?
The moment before creation,
The pause …. between … each … thought,
For when you wake up you create your life,
The moment you think … life exists,
Your reality emerges and it becomes a bed, a window, clothes, breakfast, car and work etc.
Life vibrating at the same rate,
What does it enable you to see?
Before you awaken then what?
Vague memories of the dream,
But which is the dream?
Which is real?
How do you know?

Therefore: When there is no thought reality doesn’t exist

The questions circle endlessly,
We square the circle,
An impossible staircase,
All beliefs break down under inquiry,
For we know not who we are nor the purpose?
Conformity conditions acceptance reinforcing present thoughts about reality without question,
Thus when the question is raised it appears incongruent with reality,
Because it is,
A constructed vision of re-vision.

Therefore: Questions open to possible realities

Imagine if you thought the world as one,
What would you see?
All life merging as an energy field?
A matrix?
For you are me,
And I am you,
But who am I?
All in my reality I create as I awaken,
Who is beyond the I?
For I know not the next moment yet it happens,
A chaos theory perhaps?
Do I create the possibilities?
Where I am not the victim of one?

What if only love was real?
What is love?
Is it life itself?
Is it god?
It is acceptance of all life as one?
Intending, allowing, surrendering to a flow,
For love grows as it flows,
For nothing is unacceptable in such a world,
Perhaps god feels and does not think?
As thought reaches for understanding,
What of knowing?
What of loving?
Living beyond the veil of our ignorance,
Another world,
Another cosmos,
Now this is when there is no time,
Like the pre-sent.

Therefore: You are what you think!
