The Touch of Others

OVERLAP

The human being is so different,
and yet the same,
the nature of highs and lows,
valleys and depressions,
intertwined in self expression.

Inspiration brings enthusiasm and delight,
a snap of the fingers,
an emotional tug,
a momentary tingle,
the clarity of insight.

Warmth and tenderness,
are gifts that cannot be replaced,
they happen of their own accord,
within an intimate space.

The love of lovers,
the generosity of a smile,
a touch of consideration,
recharges my happiness for a while.

So much perfection,
yet many of us feel incomplete,
we overlook our value,
when we are drawn to compete.

Yet when you study closely,
watching the ants working so hard,
they are constantly touching,
as they meander through the yard.

So when you see a friend,
do not hesitate,
to put your arms around them,
unlocking the emotional gate,
you will see we are not different,
we cannot operate alone,
we need the touch of others,
to break the heart of stone.
