The Rhythm of Peace doesn’t need oil

This poem was written in 2006. The message is pertinent today. When I get inspired to look I know it is for now that I publish.

The feeling I get as I move through the poem, reconnecting to the original feeling, I can see the challenging of beliefs, to loosen those. The notion of acceptance is not saying ‘oh well nothing I can do’ it is relaxing mentally (I have to learn this more). Acceptance allows the flow of life, there is an intelligence in life, it is not inert, so to trust really is to say I acknowledge there is something I do not know here but let’s just go with it. It may lead to action it may lead to doing nothing. Nothing is fine. Events are forming and non-action as defined by the mystics is not sitting on the couch, it is letting go of the ego directing events, but following an inner feeling. Thus, seeing things as they are without projection (simple seeing). The oil referred to is clearly the energy industry and it is the opiate of the people. We are indeed addicted. Look around you when driving around, I was actually thinking about this today as I go looking for a place to live. I was imagining when the oil stops. That was the feeling. I watched the cars and the images of the cars I saw on my world trip reminded me of the globe. I also had a feeling many years ago with my former husband of collapse. The energy supply went out here in Brisbane and he and I were sitting on a bench, no lights, no retailers etc. I said to him I wonder what they will do ‘when the shit hits the fan’. Meaning when the reality dawns. Those were the words I used at the time, the feeling was when it stops. We are in an illusion it never stops. I imagined all the oil feeding this demand, staggers the imagination. Also I was reading today at the shock and horror of the impact of the Australian carbon tax. The way the paper wrote up the article, focussed soley on rising energy bills. They did not explain that economics never factored in the environmental damage due to CO2 emissions (externalities) which may destroy life on earth. Perhaps if it is worded this way and the public are invited to discuss the issue to find alternatives to electricity generated from the grid, then the shock and horror will become solutions and responsible stewardship.

You will find this interesting (http://www.marktaw.com/culture_and_media/politics/GlobalOil.html):

Oil Reserves
Saudi Arabia has 261,700,000,000 barrels (bbl) of oil, fully 25% of the world’s oil. The United States has 22,450,000,000 bbl.

US
United States, consumes 19,650,000 bbl per day, and produce 8,054,000.00, leaving a discrepancy of 11,596,000.00 bbl per day.

A scientist for the National Wildlife Federation, Doug Inkley, has criticised what he described as America’s “addiction to oil”. Inkley stated it is ultimately responsible for the Deepwater Horizon disaster earlier this year.

A spokesperson for Greenpeace said, “[t]he moment has come for BP to move beyond oil. Under Tony Hayward the company went backwards, squeezing the last drops of oil from places like the Gulf of Mexico, the tar sands of Canada and even the fragile Arctic wilderness […] The age of oil is coming to an end and companies like BP will be left behind unless they begin to adapt now.”

So hence the responsibility rests with us, not the government, it is actually for us to awaken to the new future that is calling. It will not be an oil based future, there will be no more Gulf tragedies, it will be free energy. That should energise us all.

THE RHYTHM OF PEACE

The rhythm of peace,
Is an ebb and flow,
It is said that you know,
When you forget.

For the process is to be fun,
The challenge is your beliefs,
Which create holding patterns,
For the quagmire of right and wrong,
Sinks resolution,
For the solution rests in acceptance.

For to accept,
Doesn’t mean to do nothing,
It is a simple seeing of what is so,
For to know is to look into the pool of clarity,
Which reflects the image of the one,
To the many,
For in deep reflection,
Carries the current of a new direction,
That cannot be resisted,
For what you resist persists,
And what you look at disappears,
For the illusion of belief,
Disappears in the ocean of disbelief.

This generation has lost its power,
For to generate requires energy,
And we are losing energy,
We are losing in-sight,
For we fight for oil,
For the oil slick is polluting the ocean,
And no-one is taking responsibility,
For to release one’s cargo,
Is a payload,
And a weight we can no longer burden,
For to load pay,
And bribe officials,
For a bushel,
Supplies the opiate to the people.
