The Only Hope for the Planet

The quote below is from a book called ‘Conversations with God’, Book 2. by Neale Donald Walsch pages 172 – 173. I first found CWG when I had no money in Sydney. I realised suddenly felt to check a card I had with me, I thought there was nothing in it to find there was plenty. I then went to a spiritual shop and I picked up a few books. The CWG one I hummed and ahhd over, it was a converation between god and this guy, but then something made me pick it up. It sat under my bed for 3 months. One night I picked it up and I read it non stop until 3 am. I was laughing and crying as I knew the material.

I ended up starting a small study group which went for 3 years. I’ve never been part of groups before this or indeed after, it was just a moment when I knew to start this group. The group was not about simply learning the material it was about challenging it. I am an analyst and I don’t just follow what anyone says, I have to check it against my own truth. So the group were encouraged to check with their own truth and disagree if they felt. I wanted to rotate the facilitation so all had a chance to lead the group, but they wanted me to. I have a natural desire to share and be one with people and allowed the group to flow its own way. Those in the group were all over 50 years, I was around 30 at the time. They were the loveliest people and we had the most productive positive time together trying to understand these universal laws and reflecting on our own behaviours.

The essence of this material is to take full responsibility for yourself, it is not about changing others, it is about finding your own truth. You have to go within to do this. I’ve never had any desire to have others read the material, I figure life will bring it to them if they are meant to read it. I have no issue with people reading their religious texts if they feel this is their truth, I say go for it. For me I wasn’t resonating with religion, I believed that love was all there is. I followed my heart and my truth and it lead me to this material.

So with that, you are here now, so I guess you are meant to read this.

This quote is not typical but I felt it a reality check. The truth can be hard to face sometimes, but in facing it we change ourselves and the future naturally changes.

In response to Neale (speaking of humanity).

“… The fact is, you have barely evolved at all. You still operate in a primitive ‘every man for himself’ mentality. You plunder the Earth, rape her and her resources, exploit her people, and systematically disenfranshise those who disagree with you for doing all of this, calling them the ‘radicals’.

You do this all for your own selfish purposes, because you’ve developed a lifestyle that you cannot maintain any other way.

You must cut down millions of acres of trees each year or you won’t be able to have your Sunday paper. You must destroy miles of the protective ozone which covers your planet, or you cannot have your hairspray. You must pollute your rivers and streams beyond repair or you cannot have your industries to give you Bigger, Better, and More. And you must exploit the least among you – the least advantaged, the least educated, the least aware – or you cannot live at the top of the human scale is unheard of (and unnecessary) luxury. Finally, you must deny that you are doing this, or you cannot live with yourself.

You cannot find it in your heart to ‘live simply, so that others may simply live’. That bumper sticker wisdom is too simple for you. It is too much to ask. Too much to give. After all, you’ve worked so hard for what you’ve got! You ain’t giving up none of it! And if the rest of the human race – to say nothing of your own children’s children – have to suffer for it, tough banans, right? You did what you had to do to survive, to ‘make it’ – they can do the same! After all, it is every man for himself, is it not?

Neale says ‘Is there any way out of this mess?’

Yes. Shall I say it again? A shift of consciousness. You cannot solve the problems which plague humankind through governmental action or by political means. You have been trying that for thousands of years.

The change that must be made can be made only in the hearts of men.

Neale says ‘Can you put the change that must be made into one sentence?’

I already have several times. You must stop seeing God as separate from you, and you as separate from each other. The only solution is the Ultimate Truth: nothing exists in the universe that is separate from anything else. Everything is intrinsically connected, irrevocably interdependent, interactive, interwoven into the fabric of all of life.

All government, all politics, must be based on this truth. All laws must be rooted in it.

This is the future hope of your race, the only hope for your planet…”
