In the Moment of Our Greatest Trial

I have learned much in my life by questioning, by not hating the other for not being or doing what I felt they should but by finding my own truth in reflection of the other. Sometimes we can become angry and cast people off, but sometimes I feel the real learning is in staying and learning from life as the greatest teacher.

IN THE MOMENT OF OUR GREATEST TRIAL

In the moment of our greatest trial,
Emerges our greatest triumph,
It lies in not winning,
But in not lying,
Not saying you are right,
But asserting your right,
To be heard,
This is what I learned
In my darkest night of the soul.

It is not in being understood,
It is in understanding that we meet,
It is not in making another wrong,
but solving what went wrong,
That we seek the misunderstanding that frees us,
It is not in silence that we find peace,
But in being peace that we seek to silence suffering
For good,
For one word ‘sorry’ can wipe the slate clean
Of lies, misdemeanors and fears,
For these are the tears of gratitude
discovering the pearls of true respect.

The world is a mirror,
What do you see?
A true reflection or fault finding?
Most see what they don’t like,
Yet it exists not in the mirror,
But in the lake of shattered dreams.

When I see to look,
I open the book to find a final chapter,
For I am the writer of this book,
And I reveal my character not the plot,
For the real story is found in the hero,
Not the one with many admirers,
But the one who knows,
Outward appearances do not make the man,
But the man appears when he knows,
The fault lines in his own character,
Defeat him in the end.

For life is not a contest,
Life is not wrong or right,
It is an experience where we always learn,
That the candle can be seen in the darkness,
An eternal spark of dancing light,
For each is a unique life,
Each is a special life,
And this is the lesson I came to teach,
For a I am a teacher of peace,
And love is the answer of the meek,
For true healing learns to love ‘the other’,
To find there is no enemy only fears,
A restraining order on tears,
That muffles questions,
And orders silence,
For in silence one cannot hear
the cries of injustice just obey the law,
And this is the stone wall,
That divides and separates,
Truth from control.

So my friend I am leaving for higher ground,
The ocean of my discontent has been rough,
I was sinking as I had enough,
I found no rope to pull me in,
No life line,
Just sink or swim,
A final decision,
And this was out of my hands,
As my life is in the hands of fate,
And I find it is too late,
It is time to go home,
For good.
