Egypts Rising Sun
I felt to write this poem for a few days now. I am using ancient metaphor to send the message of freedom which I feel is the cry of all the people in Egypt and other countries as sybolised in Tahir Square. It certainly was the message I received when I was there. The police stopped me from a simple act of juggling for the people, it was the moment when oppression became visible to me. Just imagine if people couldn’t perform in the street and you were not allowed to gather in groups. Oppression has many uniforms, but its aim is maintaining power and control. So when people get out of control they are changing the track and indeed their future. I wish for them happiness and unity, a renewed Egypt that remembers the hieroglyphics rising out of the desert of true wisdom.
EGYPTS RISING SUN
From Giza pyramids,
To Kanak,
From tea rooms,
To the camels back,
You cannot thread a camel through the eye of a needle,
Or insurrection back into oppressed order,
For the genie is out of the bottle,
And de-nile is no longer a river with no life,
As truth and reconciliation breaks the dam,
And freedom of speech is Osiris the new god of fertility,
And Isis reminds us of the magic of our true nature,
When purged of corruption.
For Egyptian empires have risen and fallen,
Disunity and reunification over 3,000 years,
For one wears both the white crown and the red,
For upper and lower must meet
in the middle of Tahrir Square,
To purify and clean the body and the mind,
To re-member the peace of god lives in every heart,
As the real patron saint.
Hieroglyphics inscribe the words of god,
The Rosetta Stone of 196 BC
a Memphis decree,
Restoration of the civilized life of people,
For the inner shrine of remembrance testifies to
balance, truth and harmony,
As ancient arti-facts that cannot be forsaken,
Thus to honour those who do good
for the people of Egypt.
The primeval mound of creation,
An oasis of Justice as Osiris rises up from the desert,
Geometric beacons 2,560 years of an age,
Chambers leading to the underworld,
As Ptah is ever present on the streets of Egypt,
As the ear that hears only truth not treason,
For each Scarab is evolving new wisdom,
And each scribe is recording it,
As Thoth awaits a just outcome in the present age,
Enchanted by heaven and earth
and mountains to the sea,
For it is the truth that sets you free,
As one feels the warm wind blow,
The desert sand fullfills the hour glass,
For this is the hour of true freedom,
From the long Arabian night of the soul,
As Alexandria the library of ancient knowledge,
Resurfaces unification as the main theme,
Breaking the chains of slavery
to dismantle another brick in the wall.
The fall of Rome,
Was a dome of silence,
Not a pyramid of magical power,
As laylines of inquiry cross to open the Pandora’s box,
Discovering raiders of the lost arc,
Can never find the holy grail of happiness,
For one cannot feel to see the impressions of brail
that lead us to higher pretexts.
The holy grail is god given freedom,
Good governance is representation for all,
Leadership is integrity,
And choice is free and fair elections,
For the people are electing freedom,
Not fundamentalism,
They are electing hands above the table,
For sleight of hand is not magic,
And wheeling and dealing is the shifting sand of criminal gangs,
For all transactions must be transparent and above boards,
From shopping centres to bazaar’s,
As free and fair trade raises the gold bar,
To find Horus on the horizon,
A rising sun
of a new common era.
