Leadership or Mastery – Which is True Leadership?

LEADERSHIP OR MASTERY

What is leadership?

Is it authority?

Is it knowing the answers?

Is it stature?

Is it reputation?

Is it steadfast adherence to past decisions?

For many are seeking leadership,

Yet leadership can not be sought,

You are either a leader or not.

A true leader serves,

Allows others to have their say,

Asks many questions,

Is unconcerned with status,

Is prepared to lose reputation if it runs against the grain,

For one becomes isolated,

One is alone,

As a leader leads oneself,

She doesn’t require followers,

He cultivates inner power,

The power to choose,

Through enlightened

self governance.

Many have turned to the father,

Many have sought someone to take the lead,

For they are not prepared to take responsibility,

For position and status demand an answer,

Yet these structures have a tradition,

Dominance was perceived as strength,

Aggression as power,

Yet in truth there is no power in taking power,

For the collective becomes weaker,

As we watch the civilisation

Go into decline.

The greatest strengths are not leadership,

They live in humility,

In self knowledge,

In truth,

For these are the three horse men,

Who are not blind,

They lead sense,

For sense-ability,

Seeks the middle ground of compromise,

As one is sharing the pie…

Equally divided,

Equally owned,

Equally enjoyed,

This is the mastery of the future,

For there will be no leaders,

There will be no followers.

For when we all take responsibility for what we create,

We will choose in the next few years

To stand on our feet,

Or live on our knees,

And the latter is not conducive

To natural selection.
