The Middle East Finds Peace in the Children

May my prayer for peace and truth be answered for both Palestinians and Israelis. I send love to members of our human family.

The Middle East Finds Peace in the Children

Blessed are the peacemakers,

For they are the children of god,
For it is the children that suffer,
Like lambs to the slaughter,
All have a right to exist,
All are the sons and daughters,
Of Abraham,
Representing the father of many nations.

Ishmael and Isaac are brethren,
They sit at the left and the right hand side of god,
And they are asked to break bread,
What does it mean to break bread?
It means to share what has been given freely in love,
It is to wash the feet of your enemy,
How can this be done?
You must first take the log out of your own eye,
To see clearly the speck in your brother’s eye,
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Peace is not the cessation of violence,
Nor is it a peace treaty,
Or a negotiated settlement,
For settlements are not the justice of the peace,
Suicide bombings can never gain peace as justice,
And reading spiritual texts will not purify a heart filled with hatred,
Only love is the answer all are fighting for,
Yet you cannot fight for peace,
You can only feel peace at the Wailing Wall,
Where all release the grief of pain as blame,
For to climb the real temple mount,
One must return to mount Olympus,
To choose the god of war or the god of peace?
For peace opens the heavens to the agora of debate as democracy,
War withdraws the right to be human in an autocracy,
Defining the true character of each city state.

Plato defined justice and order as the just city-state,
Socratic dialogue questioned justice,
For is a just man happier in a state ruled by philosopher kings?
Or the unjust man ruled by power brokers as king makers?

Philosophers deciphered the rhyme in reason,
And the reason in the rhyme,
Aristotle refined poetics as the ethical utility of the arts,
Purging the emotions of pity,
To discover purity in truth lives in each city,
Thus the proof of truth is found in self-knowledge,
Carved indelibly on the philosopher’s stone ‘to thine own self be true’,
Rendering the mastery of alchemy a peaceful transformation
from insanity (fear) to unity (love).

Self-realisation of the Holy Grail is held in the vision not the bounty,
For the mutiny on the bounty sinks the captains of industry …

Upon the waves of a Zionist mantra,
Generating cross currents of a homeland without assimilation,

Upon the mantle of a holy war,
Islamic extremists generating violent payback as retribution,

For there can be no reconciliation when there is no affiliation,
Building angry walls of division rather than a higher tower of unity,
For neither have a vision of the good, the holy and the beautiful,
When seeking the bounty in opposition rather than unity.

The mirror of truth shines equally into all eyes,
To remove the log in your own eye is to find the speck in the other,
Otherwise there will be pride before the fall
from the Garden of Eden.

Peace in the Middle East will fall as the ripe apple
from the tree of knowledge,
For the tree of life is the root of all branches,
And to turnover a new leaf in each holy book
is to love thy neighbour as thyself,
For ‘to thine own self be true’ shines with self-love,
For if love and equality are not at the family table,
Ishmael and Isaac will not break bread fairly.

For to feel the divine presence at each table,
Is to see the good, the holy and the beautiful in your brother,
For god’s house is a home open to all,
As the trinity of unity is the Holy Communion that resolves all conflict,
For you are your brother and sister’s keeper.

It has been the silence of the lambs worldwide
that allows the division bells to toll,

Yet if you listen deeply you will hear the clarion call
in the voice of your crying child,
Leading all home to desire peace,
For God’s sake.

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.”
