Israel a Land of Conflict? The World a Dangerous Place? Or is it Our Thinking?

This is a video of Byron Katie speaking of the War between the Arabs and Jews.  A very interesting perspective.  I would recommend consideration by analysts on this.  As for too long we are fighting wars that do not work or bring people what they think they want.  This now moment in my view, can be a time of great illumination when we are open to questions. It moves us out of certainty to exploration and that is where it get’s exciting.  Explore what you don’t know, make space for being wrong, find out what is there that you hadn’t considered, and maybe you find an amazing world opens up.  One beyond our wildest dreams.   I am still learning but always I return to this perspective, as intuitively I can feel the truth in questioning my thoughts.  I have to smile as I have discovered when negative, I am wrong.  I love finding that out, then I can get a sense of what is true, as I feel kinder.  That is my gauge.  This blog has been about finding deeper truths and it brings to me much deeper appreciation and optimism around the future.   So with an open mind expore another way of seeing the world.

The type of thinking Byron Katie demonstrates through The Work turns around everything we thought was true and believed without questioning.  We can stop war when we look within ourselves and start peace there.  Fighting won’t do it, it just perpetuates the hatred.  It is easy for me to love governments, the military, violent people or those I would deem opposite to me.  I don’t change the love of who I am because others do, I stay in the space of love and see I am not in control of others, my power resides within me so that is where I work.  That doesn’t mean I don’t teach peace education or speak my truth, it means I do this in a way that is kind.  I am learning a deeper kindness in myself where I question my thoughts and no longer find myself at war with injustice.  Interestingly enough as we find the peace within, the world changes.   To lead by being the peace we love, for me, is the way I am following.  I send you peace and love.

This video is Byron Katie speaking about Israel and Palestine.

Her words are in the transcript below.

So I hear people say that Israel is a land full of conflict between Arabs and Jews,
0:08
and I don’t see Israel as a land of conflict between Arabs and Jews.
0:15
Like every other country in the world, it is a country full of people that are believing thoughts about each other,
0:25
that they haven’t questioned yet, and that’s happening all over the world.
0:30
Will The Work work in healing conflicts between countries?
0:36
Absolutely not.
0:40
The only world to find peace in, is the world that you live in, and the world you live in is in your head.
0:50
It is in your thoughts, it is believing your thoughts, it’s in your thinking.
0:55
If you have a conflict in your life, I invite you to write the concepts that are stressful for you down,
1:05
and sit with those, and walk yourself through these 4 questions and turnaround,
1:10
and find peace within yourself.
1:13
Because as long as we are believing our thoughts, we are going to see the world as a dangerous place, because
1:21
it is the mirror image, a projection of what we have not healed within ourselves,
1:28
of our own mean unhealed mindedness.
1:33
And I can say mean-mindedness because that’s how it feels to the human being thinking it.
1:39
If we love everything we think, we begin to love ourselves,
1:43
and when we love ourselves, that’s what we project on to others.
1:48
And so how can Jews and Arabs be the enemy? To a healed mind, it’s not possible.
1:56
So I hear you say that Arabs want your land – what do you want?
2:02
You know — “I want” “I want” “I want”, “I need”, “I need”, “I need”, “they should”, “I should”,
2:09
– and believers walking around agreeing with each other, and that is war.
2:17

And that is the war we’ve always had on this planet, and that is the world we’ll always have on

2:26
as long as people are believing their thoughts about another human being.
2:31
And how can we expect world leaders and kings and queens and presidents and
2:38
anyone in the world to stop doing war, if you can’t?
2:45
So how can I say to a mother, who has just lost her son to a war?
2:51
“Where are you doing war with reality in this very moment?”
2:57
“What are you believing in this very moment?”
3:01
I would look to that, so that my son’s death would resurrect me,
3:07
and in my experience, when that happens, my son lives. My son can never die.
3:16
If someone dies in my life I immediately experience celebration.
3:23
That’s a sane mind. That’s a sane mind. Sadness is the war with what is – it’s a tantrum, and you lose.
3:33
And that’s what the mind does not want to accept,
3:35
that it is this identification it has taken on of — “I am the victim, I am a victim here, they are wrong, I am right.”
3:48
You know, I would just begin with questioning thoughts against my brother,
3:55
thoughts against my sisters, thoughts against my cousins, and find my own freedom in that.
4:04
Can you imagine how free we would be if we took time out,
4:10
to not attack mentally and emotionally what appears to be real to us, to question it instead?
4:19
There would be no time to fight — we would all be looking to the direction where freedom really can be found.
4:30
We’re doing it backwards. We’re trying to change the world, and it hasn’t changed. We haven’t evolved.
4:36
We’re still killing people, we’re still hating, we’re still frightened. There’s no evolution happening here.
4:30
We’re doing it backwards. We’re trying to change the world, and it hasn’t changed. We haven’t evolved.
4:36
We’re still killing people, we’re still hating, we’re still frightened. There’s no evolution happening here.
4:43
So people who question their minds, shift their world every time they do it,
4:49
they shift their identity and come out as kinder human beings, and a kinder human being
4:56
is less threat on this planet.
5:03
So what is my prayer or wish for Israel?
5:06
That you have everything you want,
5:10
that you have everything you want, and if that’s not working for you,
5:13
that you revert to The Work, that you begin to question your thoughts about reality,
5:19
your thoughts about life, your thoughts about others, and see what’s true and what’s not, and
5:27
to come out as a kinder nation, a kinder human being…
5:35
… and show the rest of us the way.
