Allowing Life to Move You
The indigenous people believe that the spirit moves their lives. Just imagine the idea of life living you. Sometimes you don’t know why you did something, you weren’t thinking, and you saved a life, or you applied for a job or you made a comment. These are the moments when life is living you. Your ego is not in the way thinking you must control life in order to survive. What if survival is not an issue?
I am living a free life these days where I go where I feel and I trust life to show me. I allow life to give me the words at times or not. Sometimes I may make a sudden turn and go down a road. I remember when I travelled up to Brisbane suddenly turning off to Seal Rocks (Maitland), I wasn’t sure how long the road was but curiously followed. To my amazement someone had painted a giant peace symbol and written love and peace. I smiled to myself. My thought was this was why I made the turn. Often I look retrospectively at what happened and reflect on the circumstances that lead me, the people I met and the thoughts I was exposed to. I no longer see coincidences anymore.
Some people talk about waking up, others call it the awakened mind, where there is no resistence to life. I recall when I studied Peace Studies learning about pacifists. In Gandhi’s state of Gujurat he was influenced by the Jains who believed in complete non violence and non resistence. No resistence in truth is not engaging in a negative thought around a situation. It is letting go of the thought. Not generating internal tension or stress. It is flowing through life and accepting life as it turns up.
These are hard concepts to get your head around and many people will say do you just feel peace when someone is being hurt around you or violence is happening. The awakened mind does not feel anger, fear or pain. It is a fearless mind that is one with the reality that shows up. That doesn’t mean a person doesn’t help someone or stand between an attacker and victim. It doesn’t mean that the person doesn’t show love, indeed they do. They just don’t embody the negativity or feel judgement.
The world we perceive is constant change, beneath that is a changeless Reality. I believe Deepak Chopra had a book on Timeless Body Changeless Mind. It is the peace beneath the conflict.
An awakened mind does not deny reality or seek to avoid pain, there is an embracing of what is happening, and there is no obstruction in embracing what is occuring. It is called the mind free of illusions that can learn to dance with life or death.
When a mind is no longer in fear there is no resistence even to death. The mind has forgiven all things, including the self. Often in life we have issues that remain with us, feelings of guilt, or anger towards an event in the past. The truth is the past is gone and the future hasn’t arrived, so what we hang onto isn’t real. When we learn to let go, release, then we are free to live now. This is freedom and living life fully.
The highest state of being cultivates allowance, willingness to know that which arises is already passing away, like water flowing through a fork. No point lamenting it. The mind that laments is a mind imprisoned in delusion. The mind that allows all things is the mind already free beyond all things.
This is the life that moves you. We are not in control. Interesting thought to consider. I got this when I did a parachute jump, I realised that the forces of nature were in control and I was here for the ride. I could jump out of the plane at 10,000 feet in fear or relax and go with it. I choose now to go with it. This is allowing. Afterall I can’t jump back in the plane can I? The same applies to life, it is what it is. Live it in peace.
Something to contemplate on from a very wise source.
Peace in your dreams, in your waking dreams and with you.
I am off to cultivate allowance of what is.
