26 January Australia Day is about the Country

It was interesting I spent a week with my family in Canberra (capital of Australia), going through childhood memories. I feel so many circles closing in my life. When I was in Melbourne I told someone that if I was to have a car someone would have to give me one. To my surprise my mum offered to buy one. I don’t come from a wealthy family, but my mum just recently came into some money and she thought to do that. I never asked but it was definitely what I needed. I smiled and when mum and I talked she agreed, when you ask for something it will come. I’ve had enough experiences in life to know this is true. It brings me a sense of security that many people don’t feel. I will be writing a book about my life story as so much magic seems to happen in my life. Many people have told me it is because of my attitude. I am a positive person and I see people do their best. People believe I draw these positive things to me. I do know that is true, anyone can do it, but many won’t step out of the comfort zone to test life, to see if they actually can create positive changes.

Last night I bought a car and it is in really good condition. I had a feeling this Irish guy would be the guy to sell it to me and I actually felt he was the one I wanted to give the money to. I told him this and I am sure he was surprised by my attitude. I tend to view things in reverse, it is not about saving money it is about giving it. We did the deal and I drove back to my mother’s place then onto Bob’s. I do recall I spoke of Bob in my previous blog. So if I am repeating myself apologies, bit tired tonight. Anyway had a reasonable sleep. I am staying in a caravan and in the morning I usually wake up around 5am (eek) with the first light. Fortunately this morning I went back to sleep until 10.30am. My feeling was to leave for Sydney when I am up for it, rather than making a tight schedule.

My niece and nephew came over with my brother. I haven’t seen them in a year. We had a nice chat around the table. I showed them the currencies I had collected from around the world. They were excited. I gave them presents from Peru and Chile, they were happy. Then I showed my presentation of travelling the world as a peace clown. I made the point to them to follow their hearts in life, money is not important. I explained to them the importance of truthfulness in life, to not lie but to live a life in integrity. I said to them I didn’t have much money to do this world trip but I visualised the money I needed $10,000 and was offered work out of the blue which I quoted for and got. I told them life is about doing work sometimes you don’t want to do to find out what you like, it is through contrasts that we get clearer. I never work in places where I am not treated with respect. I tended to keep moving until I found what I wanted, and as it turned out I wanted to work for myself for many years. I am not into the money I always chose experience.

We had a really lovely time together. Then finished packing the car and off I went to Sydney. I must thank my mother for supporting me in this way, I was deeply touched at her generosity and she saved me much lugging of a very large suitcase and heavy stuff. I am moving to Brisbane so a car was a luxury for me.

The drive was easy and beautiful watching the Australian landscape slide passed. It is Australia Day but for me it was about honouring the country not the culture. I reflected on how Australian’s took on board their nationality and I did hear a few comments about people who were not Australian. For me I will celebrate Australia Day valuing this vast and incredible land. That is what the world trip did for me, I feel a world citizen now, all countries are my own, but the natural world for me is what I will celebrate as it gives me life and provides a context for my experience in this life. I am grateful for growing up in this amazing place and want to get to know the natural world more.

I drove up to Sydney. I used to do this drive many years ago and did live in Sydney a few years when I was 21. I met my husband in this City and my ex partner, many good memories. I am off to Manly to meet with two of my oldest friends, we met 18 years ago. My two friends hadn’t spoken in a while so my visit was the excuse for them to meet again. One of the friends is letting me cover her job for 3 weeks which will give me an income. The other one is an editor and with a really lovely guy. I really enjoyed drinking wine tonight and having Thai food with them and laughing together. Really lovely to be here.

Gave my friends a big hug and off to sleep. Have a good night and perhaps think about your country not the culture but the land that supports all life. We are very fortunate to live on this blue planet, perhaps look up at the stars and see that we are part of something much grander. Sweet dreams
