Burying Eve

The bullet points below describe a painting my former partner painted of Afghan women behind bars, he uses his words. It was a surrealist painting. It describes the discrimination of women and the killing of baby girls. Boys were valued more than girls, it is still a belief in existence today.

I sat with women tonight and they commented how lucky we are as women to be able to come together at a restaurant and meet. They acknowledged in other parts of the world, women do not have freedom.

• a woman, a world behind bars, the woman represents the world and the world is behind bars, we can never reach to her to know her. The world represents earth, the woman represents earth, earth and the woman are the same colour;
• and we see again a woman behind the veil it’s our view of the woman;
• from her view, the reality of her life is that she is behind bars looking at the freedom, looking at the world;
• that darkness is created by male, that is the heart of fear, that’s a grave that she lives in she is buried alive;
• even in the holy book of muslims, the Koran, it’s condemned;
• the writing that you see on the painting is from the Koran which means:

When the sun shall be folded up,
And when the stars shall shoot downwards,
And when the mountains shall be set in motion,
And when the camels ten months gone with foal shall be abandoned,
And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together,
And when the seas shall be swollen,
And when the souls shall be paired with their bodies,
And when the damsel that had been buried shall be asked
For what crime she was put to death.

Women and men were created on this planet to love and create the next generation. It was never meant to be an unequal union, it was a holy reunion when love is the desire that attracts partners to come together. The devaluing of girls is a crime against humanity, as all children should be protected equally and given equal opportunity to live to their highest potential in life. Children are not the property of adults, they are a gift into the world.

BURIED ALIVE

Contrasts and relativity,
Soften the severity,
To feel your hair ,
Blowing free and wild,
The gay abandon,
Of the innocent child.

What it is to be a woman I know,
The superficial exterior of the feminine,
Is all illusion,
The desires and fears of men,
Are what feed the confusion.

Gently wiping away the cobwebs of antiquity,
Exploring the subtle truths,
Superior is inferior,
Seeking to fill the gap,
Equality is such a respect,
Where the images overlap.
