Civilisation is the Freedom of Compassion

COMPASSION IS FREE

I don’t care if you love me,
I don’t care if you leave me,
For you were never there,
Just a silhouette from a distance,
A symbol of detachment,
A statue unmoved and set in stone,
A witness eroded by time,
But where are the participants,
Who make time,
Their priority.

I have been sleeping,
Cradled in my lovers arms,
For too long,
But I am awakening,
I can see the sky,
The roof of my heart,
Is open to the elements,
For I am revitalized,
I am refreshed,
I can see what is missing,
For the pieces have been removed,
It is a puzzle that is never completed,
Until we learn.

As my eyes become clear,
The fear of past lives disappears,
For the wind is whispering to me,
To return to the sea,
For the sands of time await my presence,
For the shell of my persona,
Conceals the pearl,
That values the human heart,
For the current of love,
Will take me home.

For where is my family?
They are scattered to the winds,
For the home became a house,
The parent a spouse,
The friend an acquaintance,
Truth is presence,
Love is the absence of abuse.

What in the world have I awoken to?
Through ancient eyes I realize,
Civilizations demise will be rapid,
The wild wars of rapids,
The water course is drying up,
For what has been learned,
Through the blurred vision,
Of commercial television,
But blind suspicion,
Desiring objects of automation,
Above real sensation.

I have been weeping,
For the willow is sweeping my hopes away,
They are discarded,
Yet the scar is not visible,
For it is hidden in the sadness,
Behind my eyes,
For I came to you with a gift,
I came to you with a belief in you,
I came to you to return your light,
Which shone in the heart of my hope.

You have taken but never received,
You have looked but never seen,
You have walked but never stayed,
You have spoken but never say
how you feel?
You have left me to flounder,
Without a backward glance,
For choice won’t take the chance,
For romance is out of the question,
For my questions are rhetorical,
For only you can fill up the gaps,
That will appear as your foundations shift.

For I am you,
And you are me,
And compassion is what I give for free,
But you are short changed,
You have nothing to give,
But live with nothing,
For the rich man is poor,
The poor give to the rich,
For I have given you all I have,
For the pleasure of seeing you smile,
The greatest gift,
I can give your child.

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.”
