Listen to All Voices from Sublime to Ridiculous
Often we can sit in judgement of those voices we think are resonant with ourselves and those we think are irrelevant. What if I was to say all voices are relevant. The fact you are hearing or exposed to the voice indicates there is something to learn.
This works on the basis of the concept of the 10 doors and goat analogy some reading this blog may recall. When Edward de Bono invited me to his conference for free and we had a small debate in the break. The idea from memory was if there was 10 doors and one goat behind the door what is the probability of getting the door with the goat 1:10 right? I said 50:50 you either do or you don’t. It happens or it doesn’t. So what I have learned that everything that comes into my reality is part of my reality. I do select out what I focus on as my consciousness is selective. If I had no thought then maybe I may be aware of all around me, with a mind that focuses I select what I am interested in from the array of stimuli.
When you have an open mind, you become aware not to judge on the basis that you may not know the truth of the matter, there is much you do not see, it is not in your experience. That is why I work on suspending judgement, so I can see clearly something without making it right or wrong, just something happening. I then decide what it means to me.
Truth is often in obscure places where you do not expect to find it. For example I did a few humorous posts yesterday. I saw some of my own typo mistakes and laughed. I then decided to write a blog on mistakes and it led me to looking at phonetic spelling and the fact I had mirror wrote as a child. I then explored the eyes seeing the world upside down and then flipping the images for the brain to process. It made me think about how serious we are in society, that we only listen to those voices we think are coherent. Yet the wisdom is in everything, it is in the person who society discards, the sentence that appears foolish. Interestingly I think of George W. Bush here, I remember the amount of flak he received when he couldn’t pinpoint certain countries around the world, his ignorance of geography. What I learned is that anyone can be President, you don’t have to know it all. Admittedly he is the son of the former President but then who would have thought Obama would have held the Presidency a dark brown skinned man (I don’t use the word black he is not black), who grew up with a single mum (or mom), lived in muslim countries became President, after the war on terror at a time of anti-muslim sentiment. So I see there is no limitations. Our mistakes make us human and we demand high standards from ourselves, but we get tired, we go too fast, we are imperfect but for me that is the perfection.
I don’t discount anything, all is acceptable and there is something to decide on the basis of an experience. From my perspective I decide if I resonate or not, I make a choice. I am also learning to notice my energy more if I am drawn to something or not. You can’t change people but you can change yourself.
Byron Katie states in her wisdom how do you know you need something you have it. How do you know you don’t, you don’t. She speaks of moving away from something if she feels to. She is coming from what she terms ‘the don’t know mind’. I really love that she is not telling you what to think, you decide what it means. She speaks of the freedom to love every moment. She leaves the past in the past and the future in the future, her reality is now. Many of the wisest people around the world today are saying the same thing, we are here now. That is where you have the power of choice. Even when we get into debates it is in truth in the past. The only question, given that contrasts, what do we choose? What do we want to create, who am I in relationship to that (person/issue/place). We create with our thoughts and they are powerful.
Full responsibility comes when we examine our thoughts and seek for truth. When we deeply inquire into truth (which doesn’t have to be serious by the way), we can laugh at our errors and joke about our human foiables, we don’t need to hold on to embarrassment or guilt. In a compassionate world we walk along side each other, ridicule doesn’t even enter the mind. We see ourselves as each other, something I have said for a long time. That is where we join, that is empathy, that is the oneness, and more to the point that is freedom. Just feel how you are feeling when you are critical, it doesn’t feel good, that suggests it is not true.
I am starting to realise that I must learn to let go, let go, let go, not to try and force things or even change things, just allow life to unfold. There is definitely an inherent wisdom in the life process that is intelligent. The letting go is not absolving oneself of responsibility and throwing your hands up, it is simply allowing the wisdom of life to find its level. They say what goes around comes around, there is much dynamism you cannot see that has, and is, happening. You can visualise it as a ripple effect from 6 billion or more people. Thoughts send out those ripples and that is how we form schools of thoughts, like attract likes and if enough come together, change just naturally happens. I like the idea of just letting go.
So when you see the sublime or the ridiculous it came to you for a reason. Nothing is beneath or above, all has the meaning you give it.
With that I am off to the beach, make a few ripples there. If I have energy today I may do some clowning. Found a great place for that.
Spread love and joy.
Have a great day.
