Argument Contradiction or Abusing Humour

I love this – causing grievous mental confusion.  Hmmmm

Perhaps this is sanity in a world that takes itself so seriously. Who is to say what is sane what is not.  In the film I am watching they are discussing Graham Chapman who played Brian in the Life of Brian. They said he was a trained doctor. He could seem very serious and then become very silly. Naturally he was very silly.  He did some bizaar things like crawl around at a party on all fours and lick women’s feet. Yes I’d definitely say he could be certifiable. Yet he did no harm.  He just moved outside the boundaries of what was considered normal. We have a tendency to feel comfort being in the norm of life. Maybe it is having no limits.  I think children are able to go into this world quite easily before they are taught it is not appropriate behaviour.

I used to watch Monty Python as a child.  I remember a lot of it.  So imaginative and funny. I smiled all the way through because it was so silly.

When conservatism is the norm and what is silly is out there, we lose our connection with imagination.  It is very important to laugh and be silly and just play with creativity, even if non sensical, it is reaching for what is not confined by convention.  Admittedly you can see in some of the Monty Python skits that it would be considered sexist or aggressive but the idea is to surprise.  This is the provocateur, the trickster, the fool and buffoon, these are the comedians who challenge the rules, knock down the boundaries of what is considered sensible. This is how you play outside the boundaries, this is where the unknown is made visible.  I really love that.

Humour that brings joy is another way love unites and lightens up.

Here is the skit on arguments.
