Candle Vigil for Deaths of Homeless Women

Many homeless women die, this is a reflection of a society that has lost its humanity. No person should be on the street or couch surfing.  I’ve been homeless coming up 2 years.  What happens to the poorest is reflective of the rest.  How would you want to be treated? The answer is always in that question.

There are over 116,000 homeless in Australia and this is a wealthy country spending billions on infrastructure but not its own people.  That says volumes. The essence is inequality not structural change.

The poverty is in the society not the person in poverty.  That is what I learned as a homeless person. We are taking not giving to one another.  The rising number of women in poverty and homelessness is deeply concerning.  Women are not safe on the street.
