Why Do Men Become Paedophiles?

This was heartening to learn that the world’s largest paedophile ring was uncovered.  I consider this more important than the so-called terrorism, the real terrorism is about rape and paedophilia inclusive of ritual abuse and murder.  This is a sickness that has to be understood.  Why would anyone want to have sex with a child? How can a person penetrate a child, hear them scream and continue?  This drives to the consciousness around rape.  What causes this consciousness? Is it abstinence? is it twisted religion? is it seeking purity? is it objectivisation? is it ruthless cruelty in search of self gratification?  What is the disconnect that blocks empathy?  This is an important focus.  The psychopathic consciousness is a way of seeing that feels nothing for the other, silence of the lambs comes to mind.  This is a dissociative disorder that disconnects from another only gratifying oneself with no feeling.  What happened to the man to create this sickness? What was his childhood about? what were his role models?  what was his father like? how did he view children?  did he feel this way always or did it happen at a certain point in life?  Many questions I have.

In my work in my life I have sought through clowning, laughter and love to reconnect what is broken or alienated in people.  I know intuitively that this disconnect is the catalyst of bullying and all forms of abuse.  In moments of anger people disconnect feeling as anger is an empathy blocker, certain emotions will switch empathy off.  In warfare this is trained into men, to see an enemy to dehumanise the other in order to justify abuse or murder.  In violent video games objectification is trained into children. Without doubt there is an industry that promotes this disconnection as a means of control as a way of control globally.  Technology also acts as a rewiring mechanism away from social feeling.  It is not surprising they are online searching for something to visually appeal.  It is not unlike looking at naked women or abused women.  Although they are looking at abused children so they enjoy the abuse.  This internal corruption is really about this disconnect if we were to drill down.  You could never steal or deceive unless you believed the outcome was more important than those you affected by actions. You would have to see your own singular goal.  Power corrupts human sentiment and group think validates it.  The striving for power comes to mind, the grasping for it or the manipulation to get it is another feature that disconnects.  You can see that in leaders who had power, they seem powerful, well dressed, confident and in control.  Yet when you take their power they become shells of what they were because the power was not real.  In abuse in all its forms is the same shallow shell that fills itself with ways to gratify but within a consciousness of disconnection that objectifies the other.  It is a very base awareness.

The challenge is to rehumanise and reconnect human’s from doing to being.    I wonder what having a child confront the perpetrator would do, I know there is the risk of traumatising a child and the child would have to want to face them.  The key is for the child to find their power.  I remember when I was attacked on a beach, instead of being a victim I decided to counsel the man, I found out about his childhood and I asked him why he did what he did.  I ended up walking him home, the irony was he thanked me.  I felt empowered rather than a victim.  A child could do this by asking questions of a man via one way window, so the child could see him but he couldn’t see the child.  So the child could ask – why did you do this?  This is how I felt?  Why do you do this to children?  What can children do to stop being targeted etc.  This could heal the child as they feel power where they were disempowered and hurt.  The ring talked about below is to do with online, the numbers are staggering and it is clearly a phenomenon where men are attracted to children, the question is why?  Is it to do with their childhood, what are they seeking to get from the child?  It is not about sex it is about power, control and strangely innocence.  I would like to understand the why of this as I have felt deeply distressed by it.  It is not boy love, there is no love in this. It is boy rape.

I learned about paedophile rings here in Australia and some of the victims speaking out, they said authorities, albeit a Royal Commission into child abuse, were silent on acting on the rings as some were high profiled.  I would say they are not above the law and it is absolutely mandatory that they are arrested.  These are dangerous people and those poor children, imagine the impact on their lives, imagine it was your child or you as a child. Horrendous.

‘World’s largest paedophile ring’ uncovered

International police led by a UK team say they shut down the largest internet paedophile ring yet discovered.

The global forum had 70,000 followers at its height, leading to 4,000 intelligence reports being sent to police across 30 countries.

The operation has so far identified 670 suspects and 230 abused children.

Detectives say 184 people have been arrested – 121 of them were in the UK. Some 60 children have been protected in the UK.

The three-year investigation, Operation Rescue, was led by investigators from the UK’s Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (Ceop).

Speaking at a news conference at The Hague in the Netherlands, investigators said the network hid behind a legal online forum which operated out of the country – but its members came from around the world.

Along with the Netherlands and the UK, suspects have been identified in Australia, Italy, Canada, New Zealand and Thailand.

The members of the network went into a private channel, boylover.net, and then used its secret systems to share films and images of abused children, said Rob Wainwright, director of European police agency Europol.

However, child abuse investigators, including a team from Ceop, had already infiltrated the network and were posing as paedophiles to gather intelligence.

In the UK, the 240 suspects include police officers, teachers and a karate teacher. One of the suspects in the UK is a woman.

The latest arrest was in Northamptonshire.

To date, 33 have been convicted, including John McMurdo, a scout leader from Plymouth. Another forum user was Stephen Palmer, 54, of Birkenhead, who shared abuse images with contacts in the US. A third man, 46-year-old Colin Hoey Brown of Bromsgrove, was jailed for making and distributing almost 1,000 images.

‘New ground broken’

Peter Davies, head of Ceop, said: “The scale and success of Operation Rescue has broken new ground.

“Not only is it one of the largest operations of its kind to date – and the biggest operation we have led – it also demonstrates the impact of international law enforcement agencies working together with one single objective, to safeguard children and bring offenders to justice.

“While these offenders felt anonymous in some way because they were using the internet to communicate, the technology was actually being used against them.

“Everything they did online, everyone they talked to or anything they shared could and was tracked by following the digital footprint.”

Operation Rescue began when Ceop and colleagues in the Australian Federal Police separately identified the site as a key online meeting place for abusers.

The two forces deployed officers to infiltrate the site and to identify the members who were posing the most risk to children.

One of the early breakthroughs in the investigation was the arrest of four suspects in Thailand in 2008. Two of the men were British.

In March of the same year, Ceop identified the owner of the site and the location of its server in the Netherlands. The owner of the server is now co-operating with Dutch police.

Rob Wainwright of Europol said the man running the server had used “advanced security techniques” which took months to break down.

“If you think you can use the internet to abuse children you are wrong,” he said.

“We will not allow these offenders to carry on committing these awful crimes against young children. We will not rest until we have identified every offender that has been active in this network and others that might be operating on the internet.”

Mohandas Gandhi

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.”
