How to Ensure Truth in Media Reporting in the Public Interest?

I have found News Corporation listing of media ownership on Wikipedia.  It is noteworthy to see how extensive it is in Australia. The important point of media diversity is the many voices reporting so that the news is not controlled, massaged, edited, contoured, created or blocked by any media outlet.

When I was a market researcher I recall interviewing a wide range of voices and I found when I analysed it I carefully made sure I did not amplify one voice over another, I tried to represent the range of views.  I looked for what was in common what was different but I felt an integrity in reporting back via a report of the public opinion to honour those voices. I believe in democracy. I believe in truth so for me it took more time to make sure I was fair. Experience as an analyst was a good experience for seeking truth.

However in the world of competition, business interests, 30 second grabs, political beliefs, influence and power balance takes on a completely different complexion.  If people desire to influence the news they can and without balance this takes away the right to make up your own mind.  I am very independent I prefer to make up my own mind, but I am sure I’ve been influenced along the way not realising it.  In innocence or a belief in the commentator I may just accept what is said.  I try in my blog to not necessarily endorse anyone but I note it is interesting or in the public interest for further discussion.  Clearly I err on the side of humanity and perhaps this can bias me to what I would see as the other side.  So I have to keep myself vigilant of myself.

I am always open to being challenged.  It helps me to improve.

I was alerted to News Corporation through the film Outfoxed.  Here is a documentary.  Below is a list of assets owned by News Corp.  You decide from this perspective but check others as well. Always seek for truth for your highest good, only you know what you resonate with.  Just be aware of how communication is used and which voices are selected, what is the message? Is it true?
