Gordon Gecko came to mind it seems an accurate portrayal of what happens to young people, not only in the financial industry but is a feature of business and its incessant need for profits and to be a “success”.  It is the nature of the system and how it changes people.

In respect of influence the lines become blurred between the corporation and the government given the public goal of Governments is economic activity and jobs.  Again, it is the nature of the mind set driving the economic system that produces externalities.
