Byron Katie: Terror-ists are Spreading Violence in the World? Is It True?
This is a hot topic and one that would bring up very strong feelings against terrorism.
Byron Katie had a man come up to her and tell he ‘I have to kill you’. She said ‘don’t do it’ not thinking fearfully for her life, but thinking lovingly of his. She knew he would suffer guilt if he killed her. So she waited. She said she did not miss a moment of life, she looked at the clouds and just waited. She was at complete peace. He then unclicked the hammer and walked away.
The issue of terrorism is bringing up anger, fear and terror in people. They feel they want to kill terrorists as they feel threatened. Byron Katie has him go through The Work worksheet.
It is painful to want to kill someone. The person in that confused mind is not at peace.
Byron Katie says “she cannot know the mind of the violent terrorist, but I can question what I believe about the terrorists open my mind and see what is there. In the name of love not denial. For me to deny your internal options, is denial. I can think for myself when doing The Work and allow wisdom to guide me. Wisdom from the heart. My own. So those terrorists are spreading violence in the world, can you see another turnaround? Yes your world, when you believe your thoughts when you watch television what you were believing caused violence in your world. It is not right or wrong, that is where violence is born. I cannot stop violence out there can I stop it here? Until then I am just one more violent person.”
He says “I feel so much hatred towards them it is as if they have cast a spell on me. (BK Really – who cast a spell on you?) I feel to go to the other side of the world and fight against them (oh you are so violent, laughing, go their culture, their land and spread violence in the world). They are going to kill my family or you if I don’t do anything, so sometimes I think I WILL have done my work and I am standing with corpses all around me. (BK. then say I am love, see how loving I am, so you are beginning to understand the terrorist mind, it looks like yours)
She then goes into The Work… very interesting.
