Can we find our way home through true compassion?

I pray for reconciliation between women and men, daughters and fathers, sisters and brothers.  May we hear each other with deep respect and heal the perceived differences and learn to truly love each other.  May we find equality in compassion.

CAN WE FIND OUR WAY HOME TO TRUE COMPASSION

I am the heart of humanity,

That pleads for sanity,

For you know not what you do.

How did humans lose value?

How did they shut down?

How did they lose ground?

If the measure of a man’s true stature is in integrity.

Why do you remain silent when words heal?

Why do you not listen when the soul cries?

How can one turn their back on lies?

How did morality become buried alive?

If the measure of a man’s truthfulness is in purity.

Is the light in the darkness awakening to face another day?

Is the test of a woman’s soul her ability to forgive the unforgiveable?

Is the courage of a woman’s strength in taking responsibility for her pain and leaving the past?

For humility is the phoenix that keeps getting up,

Rising up when she falls,

For her humanity is the compassion that seeks understanding,

Rather than retribution,

Yet how to keep dipping into the wishing well,

Watching a thousand coins sink,

To draw upon the waters of eternal love,

For only water can go around obstacles but never destroy,

She must find the power not to fight,

Or lose sight of her plight,

For the dark night of the soul is to face her fears,

To allow her tears to keep falling,

A water fall with no end in sight,

To stand alone without support requires second sight,

For every woman in the world knows this struggle,

As her cries fall on deaf ears,

For how can he hear when he cannot see?

How can he see when he no longer hears?

How can he care when he cannot stand in her shoes to bare her burden?

How can either win when both lose

love?

For love is the ship of fools out to sea,

Love passes away in the night for it was never seen,

Nor heard,

There was no warning,

No horn,

Just a silent surrender,

As love goes under.

For so few know the true calling of love,

Love would travel across the world to find you,

Love would give its life to save yours,

Love dies a thousand deaths so you can live again,

Love is placed on the sleeve to reveal all,

For how can love conceal the truth,

It is the only protection that gives a roof,

It is the house that leaves a light on the hill,

It is the lighthouse stopping you from crashing on the rocks,

So you can find home,

In the waters of true compassion.

Mohandas Gandhi

“Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances.”
