Write Your Story

This was written for my step-mother when she lost a family member. I wrote it to inspire her to write her story as she was a good story teller. So many have gifts but don’t act on what they know.

The world is waiting on your story, why not share it. No life is wasted.

A FARMERS STORY

To lose family,
To lose a friend,
Fills me with tears
That overflow with compassion,
For each person writes lines in our script,
That carve the life of our heart,
They bring joy,
They bring challenge,
They are teachers,
They are preachers,
But they are one of us,
For family is the dearest,
The nearest,
And as family returns home,
We feel the pieces of the jigsaw
are missing,
The hole is left wide open,
For nothing can fill their space,
Their position in your life,
The memory of his face,
Stays with you,
Always.

Know you are dearly loved,
They are smiling at you,
They are watching you,
They send love and want you to know
You are not alone,
For your presence in their lives
Was special.

A sister,
A friend,
Sharing stories,
Celebrating talents,
For the Farmers love the country,
Where life was hard,
And playing cards meant
accepting what was dealt.

May you seek solace in the memories,
Accept gracefully as life calls you to keep moving,
For this is the sunset stage of life,
Where many pages turn,
And your story stretches back over the years,
Perhaps you sit down and write down
each story,
For there are many waiting to be heard,
And your gift is storytelling,
And this will bring you joy,
As you climb into trees and study the branches,
Filling your arms with leaves that fall like pages to the ground,
As the pages turn and people learn,
That life was interesting,
And amusing,
And confusing,
An Australian story
That is worth telling,
Don’t worry about the spelling,
For peace will come with each word,
For know you will be heard,
And they live through your eyes.
