Inner Beauty is the contest

My friend and I have been have a good discussion about joy this morning. She is a laughter ‘joyologist’ and I am a World Peace Clown. I suddenly had a flash of inspiration and said we should do an inner beauty contest.

Here is the idea.

The Inner Beauty Contest-ability is a new initiative that focuses on the inner beauty of people rather than outward appearance. In our society beauty is seen as aesthetics, we find ourselves unconsciously attracted to people by the way they look. In this campaign we are enthusiastically looking for people who seek to create harmony, who through their good deeds change the lives of others, the people who when things are difficult are quick with a smile, or a positive word to help make situations better rather than looking for what is wrong. So we are on the look out for the peace makers, the good eggs, the ones who bring families together or seek to help those when they are really having challenges. They are often the unsung heroes who are the first to say they want no acknowledgement, who just simply do things because they feel they want to or for them it is the right thing to do. They lead by example and make this world a better place.

I am feeling good after that…

We live in a world that rewards what we call success but what if we turned this notion upside down and chose to reward the person who has learned to be a success at life. This doesn’t mean making the most money, owning the most assets, or being a person of power and influence. It is the one who knows themselves and lives their truth honestly and with good intentions in mind and heart. These are the real success stories.
