The Old Paradigm is Dying So We Can Live Again

Love each other, that is my dream.  Perhaps I awaken to this truth.

THE OLD PARADIGM IS DYING

Why is humanity crying?

Why are so many dying?

What cruelty lurks in darkness?

Why stony silence or words of harshness?

To watch another cry breaks my heart into peaces,

The tourniquet of silence tightens as despair grows,

For I cannot see the rose only the thorns

of ignorance.

My heart casts a drift net around the world,

As refugees drift endlessly on empty policies,

And broken promises,

Refuge is the refuse of cold comfort,

As hopes and dreams sink and drown in unimaginable sorrow,

As pleading for one’s life is dredged up from the bottom of the ocean,

Lifeless and bereft,

As there is no economic value in compassion,

There is no personal gain in throwing a rope to those crying for help,

As men line their pockets with paper and plastic,

And shrink wrap their conscience,

As they obey rules without question,

As fools without pretence,

While humanity dies silently in a mother’s arms.

Sink or swim is the catch cry of our times,

As many chatter over a good meal and a wine,

Detached and indifferent to the real need in the eyes,

of humanity.

We have educated for greed over need,

We have rewarded obedience over conscience,

We have chosen competition over cooperation,

Balance sheets over the scales of justice,

For men gain poll position and women wait in the stands,

For the boys club is chosen over a level playing field that is free for all,

As likeness is chosen over diversity,

And this is the university of life breeding

inequity.

The backlash will emerge,

As nature must rebalance to find equilibrium,

And all those who profited from another’s pain,

Will never gain on the cosmic wheel,

For karma is the absence of unconditional love,

It is the wheel of cause and effect,

No one is left wanting as the wheel turns,

As we are all here to learn not earn,

For you cannot buy your way to heaven.

Each has a turn at seeking refuge,

For when you hurt only kindness has real value,

When you are alone only friendship is the wind in the sails,

When you are poor a meal becomes a banquet in quiet gratitude,

For suffering is the gateway that reduces the ego to ashes,

To be brought to ones knees on hard sand … burrows,

Makes it hard to withstand … such sorrow,

The pot ash of punishment slowly fertilises new understandings,

As life is a hard landing.

You breathe a sigh to release such heavy burdens,

To sleep perchance to dream,

To escape this hard world even if in a temporary mirage,

Is the relief millions are crying for.

Will you hear them or go stone deaf?

Will you respond or find ignorance is bliss?

Will you kiss and make up or turn over?

For love was always the answer.

To turn over a new leaf the world must wake up,

For every soul deserves to live in peace,

To be treated as equal and with dignity,

For these are not catch phrases they are eternal edicts,

Carved in stone tablets,

Since time immemorial,

For to heal this dis-ease one must find the medicine of our times,

And this is the love of ages,

The philosophers stone coming of age,

That rocks the boat,

For even the titanic can sink,

And emperors have no clothes,

As the pink elephant in the room materialises,

And veils diminish like thinning ozone,

The old world is finished,

For good.
