It is the Truth That Sets All Free

I remember being on a tram in Melbourne after  my world trip.  I still remember exactly where on the ride I was.  I felt the truth as alive. Not a concept.

Another experience I had, again I know exactly where I was in the late 1990s.  I felt all was ONE.  No past or future, just now.  I know it was true as it flashed to me now and I knew.  Truth is knowing.

It is the Truth That Sets All Free

Justice was not invented by a court system,

Or found in a King’s chamber,

Or bargained as an out of court settlement,

It is a cry from the people to speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth

So help me God,

For this is the pledge in all court rooms,

As judges dispensing justice without fear or favour,

For this must be so,

As night follows day,

For a Judge cannot bear false witness,

If s/he is false to what is witnessed,

Then the testimony to truth is lost in translation,

Impartiality, sold off to the highest bidder,

As court becomes an auctioneer where money talks without speaking,

The gavel comes down as the deal done,

For to speak without money is a done deal,

Principled interest as truth is the fool’s gold,

For those espousing integrity are a goldmine for lawyers,

Who use their ethics, as future income statements,

Who perceive their honesty, as naivety not nativity,

Who regard their poverty as lower status rather than humility,

For what we value we protect,

Why not protect the greatest value,

Perhaps this has nothing to do with money,

What if integrity stands up to uncover bravely what is hidden?

What if what is hidden reveals in the open the misconduct of a crime?

What if spending time is serving time working on behalf of the public good free of charge?

What if status in argument only seeks the highest fee?

What if s/he cannot see beyond prestige?

Can the truth be unravelled, unpacked and examined from a clean slate?

What if only winning is the Mad Hatter in the matter arguing the ends justifies the means?

Does resolution close the case or exit the play?

For so many want the tea party but not the Queen of Hearts,

For she wears her heart on her sleeve speaking from the heart of her inquiry,

For Lady justice is the heart of the matter silently grieving the unequal weights,

As it matters that justice is seen and heard, and not costs as loss,

For if it is not,
Status wins to deal every hand as life becomes a roulette wheel of winning numbers,

Money changes hands without a gentleman’s hand shake as stakes are high,

A wink and a nod as business cards exchange under the round table,

Impassively watching lives come and go,
as all stay below the visible spectrum,

Are they in contempt of court?

I felt my throat blocked as my appeals are never heard,

For to speak the truth is to invite suppression of expression,

For you are a number and A.NAME vs A.PARTY,

Your value assessed in dollars and cents not genuine content,

No one can truly hear your heart felt plea,

As you are set aside as courts cost,

And you cannot pay costs so you are set aside,

Or sidelined without notice,

For it is ‘only a game’ that insiders know,

To be in the ‘know’ is the game changer,

And those outside are fair game for the heartless and cruel,

As they have no shame and do not play by the rules,

For a rules based order was the name of the original game,

I wonder how many go to jail forced to take the blame,

Such is the silence of the lambs.

Tears formed in my eyes as I lost my voice,

Asking for fairness was met with silent exclusion,

Asking for mediation was ignored by indifference,

Asking for truth to resolve a matter was not a share option,

When stocks and bonds are the end game,

So where does all this leave the public interest?

I sit silently as I search for insight,

I sit in a High Court contemplating the Magna Carta,

What is a kangaroo Court? I ponder,

What of Courts conducted away from public scrutiny?

Can justice be conducted fairly behind closed doors?

The scales are not symbolic of weighing gold but seeking equality

as fairness is redress,

It heals what is unbalanced,

For when one side is a market force the other side an equilateral triangle imbalance arises,

For ti was Abraham Lincoln announcing the amendment to abolish slavery,

I learn the right versus the left argue over innocent lives as if cattle trading,

For some saw black lives did not matter as they were chattels as stock exchange,

Others argued industry would collapse without free labour to do the hard work,

For there was one man who made his proclamation declaration…

“I hold all men are born equal before the law”

For if conscience cannot afford fairness then uphold the Constitution as a bill of rights,

No matter a person’s colour, creed or gender,

All are held equal before the law,

These are the moments that change worlds,

These are worldviews that change moments,

As justice ‘won’ the day on the narrowest of margins in a divided legislature,

Breaking the chains of structural injustice to set the innocence free to see life, liberty and happiness,

To ensure just outcomes not inflated incomes,

To restore faith In God We Trust as emblems on coats of arms,

Quoting alms as Joseph’s technicolour dream coat had many colours,

To know diversity is the rainbow bridge that always meets in the middle,

For if justice is not done,

Then Justice is the end of the line for many,

As feudal chieftains remove civil rights with immunity,

Enslaving those of inferiority,

As the union secedes from the uncommon wealth with impunity,

To return to chaos out of order inciting a mutiny of the bounty,

As control orders seek to force compliance
not democratic freedoms,

As there is no more order in the court,

For all must speak the truth,

The whole truth,

And nothing but the truth,

As God is my witness,

For it is only the truth that sets all free to be happy,

As life is liberty and fraternity,

Lady Justice oversees the Court of appeal,

Wisely upholding and rebalancing the scales of Justice of the Peace or Pieces of Justice?
