Nuclear Pioneers in the US Playing with Matches?

I make the comment about playing with matches as I feel the nuclear issue is reflective of children playing with matches exploring the fire, the power of nature and not knowing how dangerous it is.

The words ‘we know not what we do’ comes to mind.

Questions:

What is the intent?

What is real power?

What generates peaceful power?

We can destroy our planet 4 times over as insecurity is fuelled by powerlessness reframed in narratives of ‘the enemy’, ‘terrorism’, ‘economic interests’, fear of ‘takeover’ and extensions of power as more countries grasp for nuclear as a power chip to fend off future attack. North Korea did this. Pakistan did this. Iran considers this.  Israel has this.  Thus nuclear is perceived as protection but at the same time is mutually assured destruction (MAD).

The video depicts the voices from 1951 and the experience of building a reactor.  The beliefs and perceptions of that time framing what they perceived as the reality of their work.
