Monty Python Conquers America
I think this is desperately needed in a world that is losing its sense of humour. I was happy to learn that the Yanks got this, there is hope for world peace afterall.
Peace is about laughing at ourselves and each other but in a way that reveals the Joker.
I like the idea of PBS as a media autonomous collective, this appears to be a way for creativity to find its channel rather than being shutdown by conservative thinkers who don’t get the joke of diversity. Independent autonomy enables unique talent to find its expression. All freedom of speech is, is allowing people to express their uniqueness to the world rather than being judged by those more serious and believing the world is in their image. Which I would call a ‘straight jacket’. What is interesting in this documentary is ‘censorship’ which came up in a court case with ABC America. Apparently ABC had diluted the show due to their conservative bias. So conservatism has a history of interference with freedom of speech. I just heard a raspberry in my ear as I listen to the documentary and type this. I think that is the answer.
The people are hungry for fun, chaos, outrageous and funny ways of seeing life. This is what makes us feel happy. There was a comment where the guy said as a child seeing adults being so silly was comforting. I really like that.
It was interesting to see South Park creators and the Simpsons influenced by Monty Python. Creativity means you are spontaneous as you allow freedom to guide the humour, if you were to sit down and really think it out it would lose its fun. It has to be spontaneous to work. It is going beyond belief that is why people laugh.
I clowned in Chicago and found myself in a Jazz Festivals. I did a lot of hugging, juggling and joking with the locals. I was with a local who I found at the Chicago Art Institute. His name was Tola, he just put his hand up and I dressed him up. I loved a picture I have of him posing with the African American Security Guard. I just loved seeing people come together. I met homeless people on the street, chatted with women, children and men, it was fun. I loved it. I love American’s as humour brings us all together to forget what we believe and just live. I have an attitude that I am not making anyone happy, I am just happy and meeting the people. If they are looking serious i actually love that and it makes me laugh. It is so freeing to just walk into a serious world and see it come to life as you see who they really are. That’s what I love about humour. I believe I see people as they are and there is nothing unacceptable about anyone.
