The Gift of Silence

You could say silence is not peace when a person does it deliberately.  But I wonder if the gift is the silence itself. It makes you reflect hey. You don’t know what you don’t know. That is innocence of what is known.  I feel the truth in that.  This is how the truth sets you free from revolving door conflicts.

The Gift of Silence

I speak my truth,

Silence returns,

As if I am unheard,

As the sound bounces from the walls,

Is this the mirror of universal laws?

Shall I enjoy the quiet?

Shall I bask in the solitude?

Shall I adopt an attitude of platitudes?

‘For what you do to another returns to the self’

‘What you resist persists what you look at disappears’

‘Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real’

‘To thine own self be true

As night follows day

One cannot bare false witness to another’

For the mirror seeks to reflect,

What you see,

Is it really me?

The Zen Monk asks quizzically:

What is the sound of one hand clapping?

With a smile she then says:

Can you find peace in silence?

For me if you speak,

I will answer,

Why will I answer?

I imagine if I were you,

I stand in your shoes,

I twiddle my toes,

For you are me,

And I am you,

You would not have asked unless you wanted an answer?

You would not have spoken unless you wanted to extend

The treasure of your gift,

For this is how we blend the colours,

Exchange Presence,

United in an infinite colour spectrum,

That offers infinite potential in every moment,

In every interaction,

For in every cause there is an effect in this dimension,

And perhaps one stays out of the drama,

But what if there is no drama in which to stay?

What if everything is called by you?

Would you answer your own call?

Or let it ring out?

What is it you do not want to hear?

For life is circular,

As I cry a silent tear,

For the fear of the unknown,

Yet maybe this is the open door,

The portal to higher truth,

As we are the uni-verse,

Singing the one song,

Where all belong,

In harmony.

Perhaps this is funny?

What if it is sad?

Yet I am glad I reached out in innocence,

To say what I feel to express,

I may not impress,

Perhaps that was the gift,

Left wanting.

Mohandas Gandhi

“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.”
