Young Syrian Child Singing and Crying for Syria

Until we truly listen to the voices of children, we cannot understand what we do by either our indifference to conflict or our engagement in violence to win the argument, to control the outcome, to get what we want.  What children are asking for is for adults to make peace.  This means, to learn to love each other.  We do not need violence to get our needs met, we need to learn to resolve conflict peacefully, we have to expand our awareness of those we affect, to see all as equal and of value.  It is in universal values that we finally can see and hear each other, this is the beginning of world peace.  It always starts within each individual.  When we see ourselves as each other, that is the feeling of unity.

Children are our future.  What are we teaching them through our actions?

Mohandas Gandhi

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.”
