Transforming Terrorism and Bullying into Peace

This is a wonderful TED talk from a man who is the son of a terrorist. I wish to add here that anyone that advocates murder as a solution whether it be individual groups or national militaries, I regard this as generating terror, so the message is for anyone who believes without question they are right and others must change to be like them. This can be islam, christianity, buddhism, democracy and any form of discrimination which announces ‘my way is the right way and the only way’. Extremism wears many masks and suits.

I really enjoyed Zak Ebrahim (not real name) speech and I noted he had been bullied and was interested to see how he used that experience to develop empathy. He spoke from his experience and he intelligently made choices.

We are all choosing the world we live in. My hope is that love becomes the prime mover for change rather than hatred or intolerance. My hope is that communication replaces judgement as we seek to get to know others rather than blindly following parents, peers, authority figures. I loved that Zak followed his heart. This is the key to peace and I thank him for his courage and TED talks for providing a platform.

World peace is personal, when every person takes responsiblity for their thoughts, words and actions our world will naturally change. The question is – do you want peace or conflict? Are you prepared to open your mind to learn alternative truths. Will countries encourage the mixing of religion and diverse groups. The new future will embrace diversity not with tolerance but acceptance of diversity. When you no longer ‘need’ people to think like you, you simply let go of prejudice or indeed it let’s go of you. It takes courage to speak up and be yourself, but that is what our world requires. It is indeed a choice.

I send love to all those who believe that violence is the answer. Unconditional love will love you but not condone your actions. When you are tired of hating you too will come into the light and find peace in surrender. Surrender of course is not giving up it is allowing life to be what it is, you cannot change others, your power exists in changing yourself. That is the peace that passeth all understanding. If there is a god or higher intelligence, which for me there is, love is always silently at every table, asking you to choose again. You know you are in alignment with love as it feels good and peace surrounds you. There is a smile on your face and you see the beauty in everyone you meet. That is how you know love.

Enjoy this wise and courageous man.

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.”
