Toilet Paper Poll – What is Peace?

Quite a few years ago when I was at university I did the first ever Toilet Paper Poll.  I put up sheets in each cubicle and asked the attendee there what they thought about peace.  Let’s face the toilet or WC is the place most people go for peace. I figure it is a starting point for a conversation about peace.

This will bring a twinkle to your tinkle….

Here were the results of contemplation in the toilet/bathroom:

(Toilet Paper poll) haha goodone! ü

Is peace achievable?

No – doubtful.

“Be the change you want the world to see” – Gandhi ü

smartass that is the quote below – shows the extent of your brain huh.

I think peace is a personal mindset.

Get over yourselves – then peace can be thought about.

I’m pooping.  I am totally at peace right now – I’m alone – oh wait… someone just entered the bathroom.  I am no longer alone but, I am still at peace.  Maybe it’s a personal thing – peace I mean – at least it must start there.   Oh my arm hurts – and I’m done pooping.  I’ll stop here, hope you enjoyed my thoughts.

Probably if I had time to think about the issue I would have heaps to say.  But what I just thought now is that when I’m in the toilet I feel really good.  I lock the door no one can hurt me or disturb me.  So if I’m peaceful here then maybe peace is about personal space and not having anyone affecting your views or life in anyway, so in a way peace can come when everyone is truly ‘free’.

English isn’t very good but hey!  I wanted to make a contribution.  Think peace is having time to yourself being able to enjoy quiet moments without hassles without having to think

People

                              Enjoy (being)

                              Alone (in their own)

                              Company

                              Everday

To wee or not too wee that is the question!!

Society needs to let go of racism, and accept all culture as we are all one species, through acceptance.  Perhaps we might well be on the road to achieving peace.

As long as there is war peace will never be.  Who are we kidding – just ourselves

There is no such thing as peace.  It is almost like asking whether is there a god.  If there is, then why are there wars and suffering.

Because noone chooses to listen to him God is a god of peace.  If you choose to allow him, the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your heart!

Amen to that ecta – God is good. As humans we are selfish and self seeking.

There is no God but its nice to have something to believe in.

Figure out what you are before you tackle the problems of the world.  First things first.  Only when you’re good to yourself can you be good to and for others.

We as individuals make up society – change beings with us.  There is always hope.

Who gives a fuck!

An eye for an eye leaves everybody blind!!

If there’s no peace at the individual level, can we expect peace at the global level.

Peace on a global level will bring peace on an individual level.

We live in a world that does not value love, compassion, imagination, community – why should peace be valued?  War/conflict begins with exclusion and dehumanisation of the weak by the powerful – maybe we should spend more time thinking about what it means to keep people on the outer, even in our everyday lives.

Peace starts in your heart, be good and kind to everyone you pass.

Thinking globally, not locally.

Peace will come when you learn 2 believe in something – whether that be through religion or cult.  Learn 2 love yourselves and others and respect everyone for their beliefs and opinion.  Do not judge people and do unto others what you would want done 2 you “PEACE 4 EVA”

I agree we should not judge others and we should accept others beliefs and difference but people should stop looking outside for peace.  They should start looking within.  I’m not religious at all and I know you can have inner peace without believing in a religion and definitely not through a cult.

Charity begins at home, with our family then country – then it spins off international.

We should all be vegetarians! xxx

By what you say in this, are you accepting non-vegetarians for what they are?

The only way people can live in peace is to learn to accept people for who why are (empathy, sympathy, tolerance can go a long way).  Treat others the way you would like to be treated!   Those so called developed modernised countries should stop trying to make under developed countries like themselves, the rich should stop exploiting the poor, and weakening as well as destroying them with their economic power and high tech gizmos.  ONLY THEN WE MAY LEAD THE WAY TO WORLD PEACE !! (Written by an intellectual not a wanna be beauty queen wanting WORLD PEACE).

There is no peace in the world if humans still think about themselves only.

Jesus Christ is the only person in whom you will find peace and life. He said “I have come that u may have life, and have it to the fullest”.  Old Testament prophets called him “the prince of peace” because no matter how hard the whole world tries, we can never make peace because we always stuff it up.  We need a perfect creator to do it for us, and he does it by sending his son, Jesus Christ – to shed his blood to pay the penalty of death for OUR SINS – FOR YOURS AND MINE.  He conquered death and sickness and sin when he rose from the dead, and all the powers of hell are under his feet.  If u want to wake up every day with peace in your heart ask him to be your lord and saviour – he’ll take away doubt and shame and guilt and give you love, joy and peace instead.  He is the WAY, THE TRUTH & THE LIFE and no-one comes to God except through him.  This is not my view.  It is the truth, and if I had the cure to cancer, I would be a wicked person not to share it.  Well here is the cure to meaningless and depression and diseases and war.  God will bring world peace.

Where is your PROOF, your actual evidence?  A book is not proof; and neither is your interpretation of such book

There will never be peace so long as there is religion.  Many great, tragic wars have been fought over one ‘God’ or another.  Believe in what you can see, not heresay.  If you choose to live on faith alone, don’t persecute those who don’t – or those of another faith.  If you have no soul proof, how can you say your beliefs are correct over others? Think about it!

I agree with you

Life outstrips vocabulary

The importance of each and everyone of us reaches beyond the trivia of our everyday

There is no better feeling in the world than the feeling of being loved

No matter I feel happy or sad, I always feel peaceful in my mind because I have God (Jesus) in my life.  I think “PEACE” is the most beautiful thing, which is given from Jesus

We have taught our children social apathy, fear, hatred and greed and PEACE will only be achieved when we learn how to be a community again and teach it to our children and so on….

I want to make peace a piece of my heart

Create peace in your life by doing things you are passionate about

We wouldn’t know what peace is without war

We would so.  We may not have experienced war ourselves but all you need to do is look at history and the rest of the world to realise what a terrible thing war is, it is just unfortunate that sometimes a terrible thing like war is the only way to stop another terrible thing.

Mohandas Gandhi

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.”
