Freddie Mercury’s Real Contribution to Humanity Was Not About Money

This is a tribute to Freddie Mercury who died of HIV Aids.  He received much criticism given he was a bisexual in a world intolerant of differences.  He shows that when you come from the heart and sing the ONE song that humanity answers the call as people know success is not about money but touching the hearts of millions.  You cannot contrive this, market it, create a product or be seen to be helping the poor, a good corporate citizen it is about being authentic.  When it is true, it is heard.

Interestingly EMI thought Bohemian Rhapsody was too long and wouldn’t work, the manager thought opera was a crazy idea.  Queen walked out as they were not going to compromise as artists, a good message for other artists to think about.  As fate would have it Kenny Everett played the 6 minute track on his radio program and interviewed Freddie and the song took off.  In the hands of business people the artist is suppressed as conservatism appeals to popularity rather than creativity.  They can’t see the brilliance given they are focused on the money not the quality of the piece.  They market for profit using formulas of what works rather than breaking new boundaries which is the reality of the artist. It is a weakness in the economic system which is focused on maximising profit not opening a door to creativity to expand the mix of expression. What was brilliant about Bohemian Rhapsody was that it included opera, rock and roll and was vocally incredible.  It was powerful and dynamic, it was in truth a master peace.

Elton John and Axel Rose sing with Queen to say goodbye to Freddie.  Freddie regarded Queen as his family.  Friends are important, money can’t buy love.
