The heading…Brett Kavenaugh the Right Judge for the Supreme Court. These words came to me in inspiration. The emphasis was ‘right’. I feel Christian Right now. I will check to see. Hmmm here is a clue…

Brett Kavenaugh is a Catholic. Interesting.

….If appointed, Kavanaugh will be part of a Catholic majority on the court. The bench’s Catholic contingent includes chief justice John Roberts as well as justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Sonia Sotomayor. Anthony Kennedy, whom Kavanaugh would be replacing, is also Catholic, while Neil Gorsuch was raised as Catholic but most recently attended a progressive Episcopalian church in Denver, Colorado.

Meanwhile, justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, and Elena Kagan are all Jewish. Last week Ginsburg was in Israel to accept a Genesis Prize—dubbed “the Jewish Nobel Prize”—for lifetime achievement and “groundbreaking legal work in the field of civil liberties and women’s rights.” At a ceremony in Tel Aviv, she cited the Dutch diarist Anne Frank and her experience in the Holocaust as inspiration, as well as her Jewish roots generally….

…The demand for justice, for peace, for enlightenment runs through the entirety of Jewish history and Jewish tradition.

So the Jews and Catholics are on the bench. Penetration of religion in respect of interpreting the law. I feel this as the far right. That is clear Judicial bias.

I smile at this one and ask who is really Christian (love thy neighbour, turn the other cheek ha ha)…

Now I will go into my inner feeling on this as I am feeling linkages. Separation of the state and religion. Or I will add power and religion. Protestant and Catholic power structures embedded.

Donald Trump’s statement:

“…thrilled to be with all of my friends on this truly historic night…we have been energised…democrats have become too extreme and dangerous to govern, Republicans believe in the rule of law not the rule of the mob“.

I felt ‘the mob’ as a literal statement. He was sending a message. I also feel projection here.

I smiled at the words ‘extreme’ and ‘too dangerous’ to govern as my previous blogs today are about Halliburton Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld (not to mention the Bush’s), the oil industry and wars in the name of Republican governance as well. So I smile at that. He saw this as a historic night as he is definitely a man that believes in patriarchy given his track record. Women are rising up, in fact we are awakening. I never was interested in the misogyny issue until it happened to me. I am deeply aware now. Awareness is the key to change, it is unconsciousness that is problematic as a woman won’t know she is being treated as second class. The times are a chang’n and as one of my friends said, the divisiveness will spur on the CHANGE. I feel that deeply. Visibility is key. #Metoo was really about women putting up their hands and identifying they had been sexually assaulted or harassed. It is widespread and our awakening is what changes the outcome in truth. We are in transitional times.

This outcome makes one reflect deeply on patriarchy.

Conservative majority on a US Supreme Court is concerning given issues of misogyny and abortion given traditional conservative views of patriarchy. In essence the right of women to choose.

The vote Yes 50 No 48

I heard the words “covering capital hill” and I saw capital as in money. I see money in this. I have to laugh there was an Australian mini series last night where a politician was in a court case and he later turned up in the urinal with the justice and he and another lawyer (who makes the decision about appointments) were on either side of the Judge talking about the job of Chief Justice. The Justice was interested in being nominated. The politician made a suggestion that if in court the other side objected, he should set it aside. The next scene is the court case where the objection is raised and the Judge has his moment of being neutral or biased, he chooses bias. That was last night. I had no idea Brett Kavenaugh would be chosen today. I didn’t think he would be allowed given his past. I find it interesting to observe the forces at work in the background, I sense it is ‘don’t let the women win’. I see that as the yin/yang seed that shifts the balance but I am feeling it towards the feminine, as this is clearly unjust.

“interpret the law not make the law” was a quote I heard. I realised later on going back to it that it was by Brett Kavenaugh. I found that interesting as I heard it through headphones as I was typing without seeing the speaker. The interpretation of the law is the flaw in the judicial process as it gives the Judge a say in ambiguity. If he is not neutral nor wise in his or her decision making then the law is distorted to a view. What I find is that is particularly the case in issues of sexual harassment is the law is not black and white in many cases, it requires a moral/ethical/values based framework to be able to decide what is just not what is interpreted. Justice is about fairness – it is weighing both sides without fear or favour. If the Justice is biased in any way then injustice occurs and faith in the system diminishes and a life changes.

We don’t problem solve issues that require more intervention in respect of education, context, counselling, mediation, options, evidence, restorative justice and transformation. We still have system that are highly restrictive in dealing with social issues in my view.

Note this video below how the women are ignored. I feel this as metaphoric for the disappearance of democracy. The loud mouth that the Republican responded to ignored the fact that democracy is about diverse voices. It was disrespectful in truth. When I see people shut down or put down others I know they have no respect for other voices. This is not democratic. It is the heart of the issue.

Not been given the opportunity review read or analyse. She was told she was out of order. She said we cannot move forward, not had an opportunity to have a meaningful hearing. Another chimes in and says she received 42,000 documents that they haven’t been able to review. It should be adjourned. Very powerful moment.
