Is North Korea Another US ‘Regime Change’ Scenario or Legitimate Threat?

This article below is about Donald Rumsfeld former Bush Administration Defence Secretary who was responsible for actively providing nuclear reactors to North Korea in his non executive director role at ABB prior to taking up his appointment in the Bush Administration.  What jumped out at me were the words ‘regime change’. I immediately recalled Scott Ritter the former weapons inspector in Iraq who made clear the objective of the United States was name change yet they spoke of regime change. He was referring to removal a head of state that was not compliant with US edicts. He spoke of the fact that there were no weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and he saw this intervention as an illegal war of aggression.

Of course any investigation into the Carlyle Group and Halliburton makes clear the links to defence contractors and Saudi Arabia with a profit motive for endless wars on terror.  Refer http://chuckbaldwinlive.com/Articles/tabid/109/ID/862/Carlyle-Group-Halliburton-Getting-Rich-Off-Iraq-War.aspx

This has to be discussed in the public as this is not the democracy we are told we are part of.  Indeed it affects the policies of other governments as many go cap in hand to Washington when they want an outcome. So clearly the centre of power is regarded as the United States rather than the United Nations. We saw this recently with Spain and the violent outcome in their attempt to force unity when clearly a ethnic group does not believe they are treated equally or their requests for autonomy respected. It was interesting how Donald Trump regarded the word ‘unity’ and clearly supported the Spanish President’s position. Therefore from a global perspective it is vital that democracy is not dismantled by the increasing revocation of rights and freedoms and that it actually moves in to a renewable future of equality on the global playing field.

It appears in my view about energy wars of profit, control and dictatorial approaches to international relations. The dishonesty is evident and the public played the fool, I have to say that as it is clear.  In truth it is a reflection of what happens when democracy is not a lived experience but used as a mask to enable groups of elite people to have power and increase profits.

Why is this important?

Because so many innocent people are being killed in the name of democracy.  Financial resources to the tune of $1 trillion dollars per year is used on warfare.  There are huge stakes in keeping war going. The word ‘terrorism’ is carried like the light on the statue of liberty by the mainstream media as a fundamental truth when it is not if peace is the goal.  There is no real coverage of both sides to give the public a clear impression of the real dynamics behind conflict. For example those that profit from endless wars and the agendas and corruption behind the scenes.  The public are given the sanitised sculptured versions that are touted as national interest when it is not.  I am aware as a peace educator the more you generate narratives of fear e.g ‘terrorism’, ‘evil’, ‘enemy’ the more you create it as the world focuses on this believing it is real. If you are in the business of munitions this becomes a profit bonanza.  If you are in the security industry in all its guises this feeds into expansion of that industry. If you are in the energy industry in its competitive posturing seeking to expand production through accessing new markets and undermining competitor markets then war can become the pincer movement fuelling engines of industry and at the same time it is the liquid gold of the US currency (contracts in US dollars) then we are not talking free or fair trade. Indeed it is not a level playing field it is a field of fire where words of division are the oxygen to keep the hatred burning like the wells set on fire.

We are realising that governance is in service to industry interests (recycled into government roles) and this is not the democracy that is fair, free and inclusive of all. Of course organisational structures are not democratic, so at what point do we experience living the democracy we keep saying we are in.  We get to vote but we have no say in Parliament’s or in public galleries overseeing the House. The public is the spectator not the participant watching the State at play jousting and posturing as a public performance.  Democracy is the lip service that says ‘I have a say’ but I know I don’t when I receive a standard letter that points to no action or real listening. It is clear when I go to a local member (MP) and he doesn’t even return my call or respond to my email. However, if I am a large multinational CEO I will receive a call from the Prime Minister or representative immediately. An invitation will follow to meet up and we will be on first name basis, particularly if I am wealthy.   I actually worked for wealthy man who owned a large retail business.  I heard him talk to the current Prime Minister and I knew we do not have one vote one value. So is this democracy or plutocracy?  Are we the people serving a small elite or is the government serving and representing the wishes of the people? I see the game of let’s pretend we live in a democracy as it keeps people passive. We will send you out voting ballots but even this is not true representation.  In some countries they do not have to vote so representation in truth does not exist.

So the world then witnesses a showdown between the US President Trump and the North Korean President Kim Jong-Un and we can see the game of russian roulette (no reference to Russia here that is another story).  Playing chicken with nuclear weapons and holding the lives of millions of people to ransom over bullying at the international level where agenda’s are secret but touted as ensuring peace and security. The behaviour is legitimised by seeking the United Nations resolutions as a shield to validate potential aggression in the name of security. Where the true state of play is US interests (as made clear in the articles) playing the role of world’s policeman keeping all safe from nuclear weapons when they have their own stockpile of around 10,000 and commercial interests. How can one nation tell another nation to not arm when it is armed as deterrence? Yet if it disarmed the other nation would not need to arm – this is how the arms race escalations happen.  Nuclear weapons are a threat to ensure peace is the rationale, however given global stockpiles they can destroy the planet 4 times over.  The half life of uranium is 4 billion years, the life of the planet. It is a disaster if they are set off and corrupt governance could be called on a bluff and destroy humanity and life on earth could be seriously sent back to the stone age. It is a large casino chip to play in the hands of men who mirror each other in their dictatorial persona’s exhibiting ruthlessness and fear of difference within rigid extreme ideologies.  Such is the mirror that attracts the so called enemy.

The United States leadership history is not one of proactively leading by example in respect of freedoms but is spreading conflict in the name of freedom. It is like the holocaust denier allowed to public speak as a freedom but spreading lies about an event where there is clear evidence. So is this about the freedom to spread fear and hate through military interventions or the freedom of leading by example in a way that reflects the founding father’s ideals of real peace and freedom. These ideals were to demonstrate how the states could be united, live in peace, the rule of law to decide disputes (not violence) and how this unity expands abundance. This model was to be an example of a possible future for the world to come together, trade and participate as a global community. That was the possible future.  Instead the United States has allowed itself to be co-opted by commercial and corrupt interests that have a vested interest in generating fear and insecurity which has embedded in the national psyche given media repetition.  Some of the leaders are clearly exhibiting psychopathic behaviour as publicised by the American Psychologists. Refer https://ethicsandsociety.org/tag/american-psychological-association/ Refer https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/theory-knowledge/201509/trump-psychosocial-analysis. When leaders feel no empathy and they are driven by egoic dysfunction and sitting at the helm of a country housing nuclear weapons then we have deep ethical dilemmas to contend with.  The public blindly follows the lead of the Media continually feeding into the collective delusion that sees the threat and opens to war.  Bowling for Columbine made clear the fears and psychology of the American psyche and contrasted this with Canada and other western nations.  It’s philosophy is no longer about the principles of life, liberty and happiness it has turned into the opposite as it chooses self interest above collective interest to feed a dysfunction that is not fully understood.  Maybe Dr. Phil helps marginally but collectively the nation hasn’t seriously looked at itself.  I include Australia here as I see the same configuration in the media and governance playing out here and aware that has taken root through business psychology where the ends justifies the means.

The common dishonesty in business as part of the sales push is particularly notable in high profiled cases where multinational companies have been highlighted as corrupt in scandals, unethical business dealings, tax havens as tax dodges and transfer pricing. This contrasts with ordinary citizens who are chased by tax authorities for failing to pay minor tax from mostly low paid wages and expensive living costs. The dishonesty runs deep until the lie becomes the truth. People want to believe the lie as their world collapses in a way far worse than September 11. So they believe the words of ‘democracy’, ‘terrorism’, ‘injustice’, ‘fighting evil’ and so on.  Yet such is the nature of masks and subterfuge or public relations spin if you like that creates the cover story. It is not called ‘cover’ for no reason.  It is just word smithing that doesn’t touch the essence of the depth of the nobler words such as ‘truth’, ‘compassion’, ‘love’ and ‘fairness’.  These are just flowery words.

Violence emerges from the suppression of emotions (feminine side). It emerges from fear and the desire to control external people, situations to feel good, to profit gaining what they want. Yet as Michael Brown states in his incredible work of awakening – The Presence Process – we are here to learn to get good at feeling. This is the seed of empathy which sees yourself in the other. Not only that it teaches that emotional detachment is caused by not feeling or sitting with emotions from childhood that are trapped. They express in adulthood as anger, grief and fear.  Empowerment and healing comes from breathing and releasing the emotions this leads to integration or wholeness. So what we are dealing with is a world that is suppressing its own humanity unaware of how to integrate to feel its connection to life. It uses products and services to fill those empty spaces that for some are deep caverns of aloneness. It is a dysfunctional mind pattern given our disconnection from our true nature.  Psychologically people will project anger, fear and grief onto the world not realising it is the minds projector projecting onto life rather than dealing with the problem at its source. The Work of Byron Katie is a gift to the world to show a way back to the sanity of self inquiry. Refer http://thework.com/en. This is about facing yourself not finding enemies out there. It is about taking real responsibility for your thoughts and actions. It is about dealing with the negative/fearful mind and questioning it for the love of truth and peace.  That is why the solution is real honesty.  Not easy but it has to be done if there is to be a future for your children. If this is not done then the planet will deliver the magnitude earthquake/comet shift to clear away the negative influences that have shackled true freedom in our world in the name of free trade or economic rationalism (irrational). It is insanity in the service of greed that calls itself progress or practical reality in the real world. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Greed is a disease as are addictions masking unmet emotional needs and growing detachment in search of feeling something. Status, profit, success are masks worn by those who feel not good enough and hunger for love. Superiority is the mask of inferiority.  They compensate the emptiness within by acquiring more and more, this is the meaning of the word ‘full-fill-ment’. This is the dysfunction of the ego that grows through controlling others to give it what it wants. It throws a tantrum if it doesn’t get what it wants. It is not accustomed to the word ‘no’ as people are compliant afraid that if they say something they will go missing or lose their career and all they worked for.  Courage is having faith that integrity is the real wealth not status. That is that person’s test. However, if we believe we don’t end when we lose a job or even at death that we go on and that life is an experience and that there are no mistakes – then our perspective changes. I am now bringing in a cosmic world view as no-one does in this economic/political context. I am weaving some higher awareness into this narrative as part of my freedom of speech that I practice.  In my former blog of Sting song ‘Nothing Comes from Violence’ it is the movement away from the stress to stillness – nothingness. The awakening that is happening across the world is a return to home, a return to no-thing-ness which is zero point in my view.  It is to undo all the false beliefs (false news ha ha) that we have believed as gospel truth that has upheld our view of the real world. It is like a dismantling of the scaffolding that framed world views. It is turning the vision inward at our own discord and facing it rather than projecting outward.  It is clear that the modus operandi of blame, punishment, wars in the name of justice or democracy is a scaffolding without content. It is not able to maintain as only truth sustains life in harmony. The truth I am speaking of is not human truth it goes beyond into a cosmic order that is balanced homeostasis, symmetrical, interrelationships, oneness and true unity.  I hear the words ‘unity’ and I smile (even at myself at times) for we don’t know unity.  It is truly as Byron Katie says ‘loving what is’. This is not condoning the negative events but understanding there is indeed a higher consciousness granting us free will but ultimately the lessons are for the highest good. The hardest part of this is to let go of control. To let go of the sacred cows of beliefs and morality.  The last word will be very difficult as we are deeply conditioned with morality. However a higher love does not feel any fear and knows all starts and ends on time. This is the cosmic order that reflects what is perfectly imperfect. It is literally like stepping of a cliff and trusting a platform will appear. That is the shift. It is trust and a return to innocence.  My experience clowning gave me the feeling of the truth of existing without ego and trusting life. I saw love everywhere I looked, no threats. I felt the real world it was truly amazing. I remember sitting having coffee with my clown buddy and people would wave at us, strangers.  I said to him this is what the real world will be like, friendly and welcoming. They looked at the archetype of the clown and felt safe you see.  They didn’t know me but my image is one of joy. So that is the true de-escalation of violence. I saw the abundance in love as people gave me things (they still do even without the clown costume) as I show love to them. This is the real wealth that is true security. It is barely known in the world as we are mostly caught up in roles and work believing this is the real world. We got used to it.  Yet there is another reality where life unfolds in perfect harmony. That is the possible future.

I will continue to write like this in my blogs, I may repeat myself as I allow natural expression to rise without censure. I may make typos and that is fine if perfection is not an issue. I will not seek to impress you with my authority as I do not wish to be an expert as no-one knows the big picture. I am more in the category of a friend who sees differently and is sharing with you. You can take my hand or move on.  I am at peace with that. I do not want to change you. I want you to have your own freedom to choose.  You come to this blog at your own beckoning, it doesn’t matter if it is work or just happenstance. I will keep working on developing my consciousness to take in the current paradigm and transcend it.  This is how you help me. I write to you for me. We are ONE. There are no enemies in my world.

As Einstein says

“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”

So with that flow of consciousness lets drop back into the political news from the Guardian and the role Rumsfeld has played to set up the insecurity paradigm worldwide.  He is indeed a prophet of doom. He profits from it.

Donald Rumsfeld, the US defence secretary, sat on the board of a company which three years ago sold two light water nuclear reactors to North Korea – a country he now regards as part of the “axis of evil” and which has been targeted for regime change by Washington because of its efforts to build nuclear weapons.

Mr Rumsfeld was a non-executive director of ABB, a European engineering giant based in Zurich, when it won a $200m (£125m) contract to provide the design and key components for the reactors. The current defence secretary sat on the board from 1990 to 2001, earning $190,000 a year. He left to join the Bush administration.

The reactor deal was part of President Bill Clinton’s policy of persuading the North Korean regime to positively engage with the west.

The sale of the nuclear technology was a high-profile contract. ABB’s then chief executive, Goran Lindahl, visited North Korea in November 1999 to announce ABB’s “wide-ranging, long-term cooperation agreement” with the communist government.

The company also opened an office in the country’s capital, Pyongyang, and the deal was signed a year later in 2000. Despite this, Mr Rumsfeld’s office said that the de fence secretary did not “recall it being brought before the board at any time”.

In a statement to the American magazine Newsweek, his spokeswoman Victoria Clarke said that there “was no vote on this”. A spokesman for ABB told the Guardian yesterday that “board members were informed about the project which would deliver systems and equipment for light water reactors”.

Just months after Mr Rumsfeld took office, President George Bush ended the policy of engagement and negotiation pursued by Mr Clinton, saying he did not trust North Korea, and pulled the plug on diplomacy. Pyongyang warned that it would respond by building nuclear missiles. A review of American policy was announced and the bilateral confidence building steps, key to Mr Clinton’s policy of detente, halted.

By January 2002, the Bush administration had placed North Korea in the “axis of evil” alongside Iraq and Iran. If there was any doubt about how the White House felt about North Korea this was dispelled by Mr Bush, who told the Washington Post last year: “I loathe [North Korea’s leader] Kim Jong-il.”

The success of campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq have enhanced the status of Mr Rumsfeld in Washington. Two years after leaving ABB, Mr Rumsfeld now considers North Korea a “terrorist regime _ teetering on the verge of collapse” and which is on the verge of becoming a proliferator of nuclear weapons. During a bout of diplomatic activity over Christmas he warned that the US could fight two wars at once – a reference to the forthcoming conflict with Iraq. After Baghdad fell, Mr Rumsfeld said Pyongyang should draw the “appropriate lesson”.

Critics of the administration’s bellicose language on North Korea say that the problem was not that Mr Rumsfeld supported the Clinton-inspired diplomacy and the ABB deal but that he did not “speak up against it”. “One could draw the conclusion that economic and personal interests took precedent over non-proliferation,” said Steve LaMontagne, an analyst with the Centre for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation in Washington.

Many members of the Bush administration are on record as opposing Mr Clinton’s plans, saying that weapons-grade nuclear material could be extracted from the type of light water reactors that ABB sold. Mr Rumsfeld’s deputy, Paul Wolfowitz, and the state department’s number two diplomat, Richard Armitage, both opposed the deal as did the Republican presidential candidate, Bob Dole, whose campaign Mr Rumsfeld ran and where he also acted as defence adviser.

One unnamed ABB board director told Fortune magazine that Mr Rumsfeld was involved in lobbying his hawkish friends on behalf of ABB.

The Clinton package sought to defuse tensions on the Ko rean peninsula by offering supplies of oil and new light water nuclear reactors in return for access by inspectors to Pyongyang’s atomic facilities and a dismantling of its heavy water reactors which produce weapons grade plutonium. Light water reactors are known as “proliferation-resistant” but, in the words of one expert, they are not “proliferation-proof”.

North Korea expelled the inspectors last year and withdrew from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty in January at about the same time that the Bush administration authorised $3.5m to keep ABB’s reactor project going.

North Korea is thought to have offered to scrap its nuclear facilities and missile pro gramme and to allow international nuclear inspectors into the country. But Pyongyang demanded that security guarantees and aid from the US must come first.

Mr Bush now insists that he will only negotiate a new deal with Pyongyang after the nuclear programme is scrapped. Washington believes that offering inducements would reward Pyongyang’s “blackmail” and encourage other “rogue” states to develop weapons of mass destruction.
